dakota duo
I am looking to purchase a new gps. I am looking at garmin gpsmap 60csx, 76csx or vista hcx. They all seem to be pretty much the same. Am I missing something? Quote Link to comment
+RonFisk
I am looking to purchase a new gps. I am looking at garmin gpsmap 60csx, 76csx or vista hcx. They all seem to be pretty much the same. Am I missing something? I use both the 60CSx and the Colorado. There are things I like about both. The 60CSx is tried and true and the Colorado is still undergoing growing pains. I've included several links for the ones you mentioned. http://www.patrick-roeder.de/reviews/garmin_gpsmap_60CSx.htm https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=145&pID=351 https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=8703 Ron... +viking0311
the Vista HCx is the newest and smallest. Also according to Garmin Tech even with the patch antenna it maintains equal signal sensitivity to the 60CSx and the 76CSx. It also is smaller(good for geocachers and hikers) and has much longer battery life(good for everyone). The only down side seems to be if you are going to use it for nav on a bike or in a car, most users prefer to have the buttons on the front of the unit for easy access, where as the Vista HCx has its buttons on the sides for great access when hand held. I got the Vista HCx because the price was better, the chipset was newer, and I only need it for hand held nav on foot(I already own a TomTom for use in the car). There's me 2 cents after about 3 months of rooting though everyone else's 2 cents(and thats alot of pennies) Quote Link to comment
CivilVet
Those three units are very similar. However, they are slightly different. Each has a different form factor and feels different in your hand. The controls are different in terms of buttons and controls. The 76Csx will float with the batteries in it, the other two are at best neutrally buoyant. The 76 and 60 have a slightly bigger screen. And have the tide tables built into them. Go find them somewhere and hold them in your hand and decide which on feels better and which one has the control layout you like. Quote Link to comment
