+LadyBee4T
Many of you may remember one of my entries in the thread What would you spend your money on if geocoins didn't exist? See my post #360. I didn’t win a coin but I think that I really was the big winner. After that post I started looking for a springer both at www.springerrescue.org and www.petfinder.com. I had applications approved and knew there was a dog out there just waiting for me. On Thursday I saw a dog on petfinder. It must have been an omen as that was my birthday. I went to the adoption day at the shelter yesterday and sat down on the floor. He crawled in my lap, licked my face and it was all over!! He appears to be a purebred English Springer Spaniel and was found running loose with a purebred German Shorthair Pointer. He is a neutered male and the vet estimated his age at about 2. No one claimed him so now he is mine all mine!!! I am SO excited!!! What is this cointest for? Well I want you to help me name him! Most of my dogs have been named after classic rock and roll songs or LPs. (To me classic means late 50s, 60s and 70s.) For example here are the names of some of my dogs: My Sweet “Lady”---John Denver Sgt “Pepper”---Beatles “Abbey” Road---Beatles “Rocky” Raccoon---Beatles Good Golly Miss "Molly"---Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels There are always rules so here they are 1. List the song with the call name in parentheses and after that who it was performed by. If you want to name him after a band member or performer you can list that too 2. If you want to list some of the lyrics so I can sing to him as I decide if the name fits that is great too but not required. In fact the neighbors may not like my singing and the dog could howl!!! 3. Limit yourself to one post per hour. Only 3 name suggestions per post. There will be a lot of time to enter and this will make it easier for me to evaluate the names. 4. As usual no editing of posts. 5. No whining—that is only for the dog to do. 6. The cointest will end later in the week—I will post later exactly when as I need to play with him for a bit to see which name really fits him. This part of the research will be difficult! LOL 7. If I see something in his personality that I think may help you name him I will post that. 8. If I have left something out then I reserve the right to add more rules. What will you win? I am a big believer in rescuing animals that have been discarded, abandoned or lost rather than supporting puppy mills or the like. For this reason I would like to award the Humane Society of York County coin to the person who selects the name I choose for this dog. This will be the one from my collection as I have already traded my extra. I think though by passing it on may spread the word. Right at this time I don’t have my hands on it so if I don’t find it by the end of the cointest I will send out something else from my collection. The second winner will get the MWGB Hyde coin from my traders. I chose this coin because Hyde is a cute dog with long floopy ears and the Bash was a great event. The second coin will be determined by random number generator. If by chance I pick a name that no one has suggested then both coins will be awarded by random number. Ok are you ready? These are the type of suggestions I am looking for 1. “Maggie” Mae—Rod Stewart (Nope he a guy dog) 2. “Maxwell’s” Silver Hammer—Beatles (Great name for a blue merle dog but he is liver and white) 3. “George” Harrison---Beatles (yep he was my favorite Beatle but I don’t really see this dog as a George) To get you in the right frame of mind to think of names here’s a great song by the Doors Hello, I love you Wont you tell me your name? He holds his head so high Like a statue in the sky His fur is soft and his legs are long When he moves my brain screams out this song Hello, I love you Wont you tell me your name……. Hello I love you Wont you tell me your name…….. Also watch for my "Help Rescue This Dog Coin Sale" coming soon!!!!!!! Edit to add This cointest will end Tuesday April 22 at midnight EST. CinemaBoxers
Ooh... we just went through a naming thing - We ended up naming our pup "Kwiddit" And, another coincidence - Maxwell's Silver Hammer - a recent favorite song of ours - theres a hilarious flash animation video online. Will kick around puppers names - we have a few of our own: Cinema's DeLovely "Ella" (Cole Porter song, Ella Fitzgerald did a version of it) Cinema's Menage A Paw (Her Bday is 7-7-07 threes. Well.. you get the connection.) Her call name is "Ruby" simply because it sounded cute. Now the new one Cinema's To Be Determined. (We wrote it down, and laughed so much we might just keep this as her registered name.) That would be Kwiddit - well... she's heard "KWIDDIT" so much, she thinks its her name. LOL Will post soon! +BlueMotmot
"Me and Bobby McGee" written by Kris Kristofferson, and performed by many, but most famously Janis Joplin! Me and Bobby Magee Busted flat in Baton Rouge, waitin’ for a train I feeling nearly faded as my jeans. Bobby thumbed a diesel down, just before it rained, Rode us all the way to New Orleans. I pulled my harpoon, out my dirty red bandana I was playing soft while Bobby sang the blues. Windshield wipers slapping time I was holding Bobby’s hand in mine We sang every song that driver knew. Freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose And nothing ain't worth nothing honey if it ain't free But if feeling good was easy Lord, when he sang the blues Then feeling good was good enough for me. Good enough for me and my Bobby Magee. Quote Link to comment
