This is the place to log your finds for the game.

Please reserve this for logging benchmarks only.

We have one benchmark to log in for week one.

It's one we recovered previously in 2006.

Recovering the benchmark this time, we included the GPS in the picture.

ME1749 R 139

We logged on it geocaching.com

For the first week.

FR0701, A 487, 1982, FTR (FTR= first to recover). The elusive extra points for ???????? (FTR?)

FR0527, E 53, 1934, revisit 10 PTS age bonus.

FQ0448, A 492, 1982, additional "A#"

25 PTS total (correct?).

John

50 FTR

10

5

65

I though you all forgot about that one but I see there is one who is(was)thinking.

I have added it to the list of points now.

You edited your post and now I'm confused.

A 487 = 5 pts for the mark + 50 pts for FTR = 55

E 53 = 5 pts for the mark + 10 pts for being pre-1950 = 15

A 492 = 5 pts as an additional A 4XX find? If yes then it = 05

Total is either 70 pts or 75 pts depending on whether extra finds are allowed. Or perhaps we don't get the 5 points for the benchmark if we get a bonus for it?

Please explain the scoring so us old and slow folks can understand your line of thinking.

Thanks,

John

Good going on your FTF.

We thought we were going for a FTF for week 2.

It turned out to be a crumbling culvert and the benchmark was gone.

Let's see if I got this right. First week log.

B = MD1853 BERLEIN 5 pts

and

M = MD1523 MATSON 5 pts + 50 pts FTR + whatever for pre-1950 ??

GrizzFlyer

For all the marks except those with a 0XX (A Letter) are for numbers only.

Thus a designation of B= B 21X,B 21,B 210,B 211 and so on with numbers only.

M=1XX,M 1,M 10,M 110.

I am using the second set of numbers for the explanation.

TOF's, I just noticed the mileage on your GPSr. Is that "original" miles, or have you rolled it over more than once? Hope your not leasing it cause they'll hit you with some serious penalties when you turn it back in to the Dealer. Maybe you can do an Ad for Magellan and it could go something like this; "We've been through several vehicles over the years while Benchmarking/Geocaching, but We've only used one GPSr and it's a Magellan-nothing but the best for us!"

OK, I guess I'm just not catching on to the concept.

I'll see what I can dig up next week.

I got busy last weekend, lots of 'R's in Arizona!

Tried using the cornstarch baby powder for the first time. WOW! Excellent definition for photos, but I think I'll keep my lumber crayon handy in case it rains.

H 265, DV0107 1948, 10 pts

RV 93, DV0260 1933, 10 pts.

RV 95, DV0265 1933, 10 pts.

RV 97, DV0269 1933, 10 pts.

RV 99, DV0271 1933, 10 pts.

RV 101, DV0917 1939, 10 pts.

RV 105, DV0923 1939, 10 pts.

RV 107, DV0927 1939, 10 pts.

RV 108, DV0928 1939, 10 pts.

RV 112, DV0935 1939, 10 pts.

RV 113, DV0937 1939, 10 pts.

I also managed three more today.

R 360, DV0343 1967, 5 pts.

R 521, DU2346 1967, 5 pts.

H 276, DU0838 1948, 10 pts

I believe that totals out to 175 points?

Finally had a chance to get out there and find some benchmarks! Here's the ones I got that can be entered into the bingo contest:

Week 2:

AE7506 B 218 RESET +FTR =55 pts.

EZ0738 RV 528 +FTR =55 pts.

Week 3:

EZ0739 K 71 +FTR +pre-1950 =65 pts.

wwflover.

I am using whole numbers.

50+50+60

160 points.

I had posted that somewhere sorry for the confusion.

Keep up the great work(Fun) all.

I am adding them in as they come in.

About time I got on the board:

For Week 1:

A 425 (1935) DX3147: 10 points (age)

For Week 2:

RS 11 A Reset (1925 - 1969) DX3485: 70 points (FTR + age)

[OK, the second one (RS 11 A Reset) brings up a possible scoring issue: On a reset, if the older date is on the disc or on the data sheet, can we go with that for scoring? I obviously think so, and have done that. If the judge says no, I'll edit it down].

I'm planning for more hunting tomorrow!

If there is an Older date stamped in the disc than is on the data sheet We will go with that stamping, even though it was reset later.

But you must!!! have a clear image so we can may a good call for you.

Edit add:

And if someone has one that has an Older Stamp and We have missed it make sure to point it out.

We recovered MF0073 - A142 - 1947

I have a question.

Would a designation of NE 32-40-10 work for N 3XX ?

Jo Ann

Since N is a single letter in the bingo I would like to accept it but it does have an extra letter after the N.

If we accepted it it would open up all kinds of more decisions.

Why do I have so many hard decisions?????

ARHHHHHHHHHH...

Keep up the great work.

It was an easy decision for me to throw out all the similar marks from my list...

And just to keep this post on-topic, I'll report a few recoveries for the contest!

Yesterday:

R 56, DV0130 1934, 10 pts.

N 343, DV0168 1959, 5 pts.

C 519, DV2292 1992, 5 pts.

B 519, DV2291 1992, 5 pts.

A 519, DV2290 1992, 5 pts.

Today:

A 520, DV2315 1992, 5 pts.

B 520, DV2316 1992, 5 pts.

I sure hope I have enough cornstarch for the weekend.

Okay, I finally have a few.

For bingo square "B3" from Week 1, HT1668.

For bingo square "C8" from Week 1, HT1418. ("GeoTrailblazer," please let me know when you've seen that log so that I can delete it. I visited this mark a few years ago, so I don't want to clutter things up with a duplicate log any longer than necessary.)

For bingo square "H 0XX A" from Week 3 (I think; the posting doesn't say), HT3237.

None of them are really old, and all have been found before, so I guess they just earn 5 pts. each.

I'm a little confused. I need some clarification on the rules.

On the wild card letters. We have three of them: E 0XX R; H 0XX A; and B 0XX N

If we recover the designations starting with the wild card letters of R, A or N are we suppose to recover only triangulation stations for them.

For example: E 0XX R- We could use ME2699 But not ME1901

For H 0XX A- ME2893 this one would be okay. ME1772 would be wrong.

For B 0XX N- ME2796 good but QW0599 wouldn't work.

Hi, Jo Ann.

I asked the same question a while back. You can recover anything starting with those letters. Please see the thread where we're discussing the contest numbers and how to interpret them. Your question is answered in my posting and the one immediately below it.

Today's finds

week 1 benchmarks found E 506

week 3 benchmarks found B 50, B 506, B 512

week 4 benchmarks found C 50, C 506, C 512

We went benchmarking today and the day started off very badly! First on the list was out in the middle of nowhere and it was a N/F. It is still Not Found! If you go looking you may find some pieces of our back window though. Got out of the truck and was about to start looking and remembered I needed something from the back seat. What I really needed was the keys from the ignition so I could unlock the door! I tried to get the back window latch to pop loose and found out just how easily the rear windows shatter!

From that point on the day just went through the sky!

We recovered a total of 7 benchmarks. ALL were FTR! 2of those were from 1934, so that is an extra 20 points.

The grand prize for the day was a N/F by the NGS that was monumented in 1934 and was a FTR! Worth 160 points!

That makes our grand total for today 470 points. (7X50=350 FTRs) + (2X10=20 OLD) + (1X100=100 Not Found)

GP0457 E 506 FTR 50 points

GP0065 B 50 FTR OLD 60 points

GP0460 B 506 FTR 50 points

GP0435 B 512 FTR 50 points

GP0434 C 512 FTR 50 points

GP0459 C 506 FTR 50 points

GP0144 C 50 FTR OLD N/F(by NGS) 160 points

I did that 1 time.

And then I rembered I had those magnetic geocaches and stashed a key.

It was once the best keocache I ever found.
