TMM-Sarah Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 After two and a bit years caching we are now slowly approaching the 1K cache. Some people know but for those that don't, every milestone cache for us has been in the presence of other cachers so we couldn't possibly do the 1K without continuing the tradition. So the next question was who do we ask to join us....and the answer was simple....lets just ask everyone! So here's your invite to join us on our 1K milestone cache. Date:- 26th April 08 Cache:- Crooks Peak Time:- TBC Doesn't matter if you've done it before or not....I think I selected a cache everyone would enjoy even a second time round. (Thinking of holding an event later on in the day too) Sarah, Gareth, Bethany, Iwan and Whizz oh...I guess we'd better crack on and find the next 25 in the meantime Quote
FollowMeChaps Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 I'm up for it - I'd love to join you all on your special day. Quote
keehotee Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 (edited) Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm??? p.s Ecky - you could have left it open and made them do it twice!! Edited April 4, 2008 by keehotee Quote
TMM-Sarah Posted April 4, 2008 Author Posted April 4, 2008 Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm??? Is that a "yes"?? Looking into a suggestion to make Crooks Peak no.999 and Only a Hill the 1K cache. Quote
SidAndBob Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 We'll try and meet up for Only a Hill, as we've done Crook's Peak (and a fine cache it was too). Many people are heading over here to do Wye Valley Ghost Train for a big milestone though, as it's something a bit special. Quote

purple_pineapple Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 we'd have loved to come along and make it our own 1K as well, as we're on almost the same number as you! Bit too far for us though Might aim for the same day though! Just need to think of a cache now... Quote
tteggod trackers Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Sorry won't be able to join you, hopefully caching in Barcelona! Good luck on your quest! Quote
Molinnis Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Looking into the possibility of having a day out in this area to join you. Will confirm nearer the time Quote
keehotee Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm??? Is that a "yes"?? Very tempted - if I can shake this cold off by then...... Quote
Chaotica_UK Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 We'll try and meet up for Only a Hill, as we've done Crook's Peak (and a fine cache it was too). Ohh yes, but best done on the hottest day of the year, like when I did this one. Mark Quote

TMM-Sarah Posted April 8, 2008 Author Posted April 8, 2008 Event to follow the walk will be submitted soon Quote
TMM-Sarah Posted April 11, 2008 Author Posted April 11, 2008 Ok so here's the plan.... Meeting at the parking for Only a Hill at 10.15am for a 10.30am start. We'll pick up the Multi's waypoints on the way up but head for Crooks Peak first. Making that the Mob's 999 cache. Then we'll pick up Only a Hill as our 1K cache.....but in true Morgan Mob style anything can happen on the day so expect to go with the flow! Afterwards we have arranged a very informal meet 1001? from 1pm. You are of course welcome to do either the walk, the pub or both. We're looking forward to it! Sarah, Gareth, Beth, Iwan and Whizz (I do need to check Dog arrangements for the pub but there is a beer garden) Only...6 to go!!! Quote
keehotee Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm??? Is that a "yes"?? Very tempted - if I can shake this cold off by then...... Cold's all gone, green card's stamped - if I can't think of another excuse I'll be there....... Quote
Maple Leaf Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 Hi MM I am hoping to be able to join you ... I did 'Only the Hill' in June 2005 and went to Crooks Peak at the same time, but that was before there was a cache there, so I need a good excuse to revisit. It was a very hot day when we did it (and we took our time/admired the view etc), but if I recall correctly it took us a few hours to do the round trip .... so hope we will be ok with your timings. Only me for the walk, but Paradiddle may be able to join us in the pub later. Quote
TMM-Sarah Posted April 12, 2008 Author Posted April 12, 2008 Excellent...so it looks like we got ourselves a little gathering Does everyone think 2.5hours is enough to do the walk? I was just guessing!! Sarah Quote
*mouse* Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 Hi there Morgan Mob, We haven't met, but FollowMeChaps and Mapleleaf mentioned you were planning this day out to find your 1000 cache, so I thought to come along and join you in the walk. See you there! Ali Quote
TMM-Sarah Posted April 13, 2008 Author Posted April 13, 2008 (edited) Wicked...the more the merrier!!! We're all harmless....couldn't hurt a mouse! LOL Sarah Edited April 13, 2008 by The Morgan Mob Quote
FollowMeChaps Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 Excellent...so it looks like we got ourselves a little gathering Does everyone think 2.5hours is enough to do the walk? I was just guessing!! Sarah 5 miles should be no problem in 2.5 hours even with your young'uns. Remember, unlike us youthful geocachers, Maple Leaf is getting on in years and her memory's probably playing tricks Quote
TMM-Sarah Posted April 19, 2008 Author Posted April 19, 2008 One week to go....still got to find another two caches before then though! Quote
The Blorenges Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 The Blorenges are firming up on this one ... MrsB's up for the walk (weather permitting - I'm definitely a "fair-weather" cacher when it comes to exposure to wind and rain on the top of high hills). MrB plans to go off bird-watching somewhere nearby but will come back to the Pub for lunch. That's the plan... but anything can happen. Have you requested decent weather, Morgan Mob? MrsB Quote
TMM-Sarah Posted April 20, 2008 Author Posted April 20, 2008 As always! MrsB Please can everyone who said their interested in coming make sure they are sure of meeting up details....and email me for my mobile number. Sarah Quote
wheelybarrow Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 (edited) Hi Morgan Mob This looks like being a fun walk , one I have wanted to do for a while (after seeing it from the M5). Have you found out if the pub alows dogs in or not yet??? Alan Edited April 21, 2008 by wheelybarrow Quote
TMM-Sarah Posted April 23, 2008 Author Posted April 23, 2008 (edited) Had it confirmed today, dogs are allowed in the pub but they must be well behaved and under control. Sarah & Whizz (Woof) Edited April 23, 2008 by The Morgan Mob Quote
*mouse* Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I've just had a gander at the weather forcast for Saturday. It's looking a bit cloudy but more importantly it's dry all day. In my book that makes it perfect walking weather for climbing hills!! See you then! Quote
Maple Leaf Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 ...... you never know, a new cache may appear nearby Well, we have to have a contingency plan, just in case there is a DNF on the hill ....... we do want to get to the pub to celebrate your 1001 ! Quote
FollowMeChaps Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 BUMP. In case anyone needs a reminder that this, and the EVENT are today. Weather's perfect for walking, Quote

Well, at least she is honest with DNF's Nope no DNFS today - though with 26 Cachers in reserve it was pretty unlikely.. Watch out for Sarahs event where we all join her for TMMs 100th DNF.. Quote
FollowMeChaps Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 CONGRATULATIONS Looking forward to next year's 2001 Event already. But why did you have to drag this old man around that mountain hike yesterday? Woke up this morning and even my stiff bits are stiff! Very well done; so glad you opened the invitation so we could share it with you. FMC Quote
TMM-Sarah Posted April 27, 2008 Author Posted April 27, 2008 Thanks to everyone who made our 100th cache so special and memorable. We certainly wont forget the day.
