+Thrak Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 I've tried multiple times to get Sunrise XP working as an alternative to the Plucker Desktop. When I install it the conduit doesn't install to the Palm Hot Sync software so, when I sync the Palm, I don't get the files from Sunrise XP. I had other issues with the program - apparently it didn't like where the Palm software was installed and kept bombing out with missing .dll errors until I had copied 4 .dll files from the Palm folder to the Sunrise XP folder. After that I was able to create a file that should load onto the Palm but, since the stupid conduit doesn't seem to install, I can't get the file into the Palm when I do a sync. Additionally, Sunrise XP is supposed to offer to install a "stub" onto the Palm. I never get that option either. Is there a way to manually install the conduit? Is there a way to manually install the stub to the Palm? Is there a way to check if the stub is actually installed on the Palm and I just missed it happening? Folks seem to think Sunrise XP is a wonderful alternative to the Plucker Desktop (which chokes on large pocket queries) but, so far, I'm having a horrible time making it work. Quote

What's wrong with Cachemate? Ummmmm........ That doesn't have anything to do with the question I asked........ That's like someone asking, "Say there, Sir, can you tell me how to get to the airport?" and receiving the reply, "What's wrong with taking the train?". Not exactly helpful. Quote

+sodajerk Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 I am not a big fan of Cachemate, not because it does not work great, I even paid for it and tried to use it for a while. I am left handed and it is a very right handed program. I just like the Web Page look of Plucker. I played with Sunrise a long time before I got it to work. Plucker kept locking up. Look at this Word Document I made up and see if it helps. I don't remember having the types of problems you are having. Good Luck. No I am not going to suggest you take the bus Quote

No I am not going to suggest you take the bus I paid for Cachemate as well and didn't care for it. I just tried installing Sunrise XP at home and it works flawlessly. Must be an issue with my laptop or something. With that I never got the stupid conduit installed but here at home it went right through. The sync did exactly what it was supposed to do and now I can use Sunrise XP instead of Plucker Desktop and, instead of hanging up or crashing, it processed my large All Finds pocket query really fast. AWESOME! Many thanks for the helpful and non-snarky reply. Quote
+Thrak Posted April 5, 2008 Author Posted April 5, 2008 Ok, another question. I checked the new databases and a couple of them include "Index by distance from Roseville". I have NO idea why that index is there. I don't live in Roseville. Any idea how to make that not happen or to have it be "Index by distance from Chico"? Quote
+PDOP's Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 The distance and bearing indices are selected on the Export HTML Files Dialog Box (File=>Export=>HTML) from locations you have previously entered in GSAK. Quote
+Airmapper Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 I have a set of saved settings in my HTML export. When you go to update, all you have to do is dropdown the select box and hit the saved settings, and it will change the file addresses, and every other setting to the preferences you have pre-set. You may already do this, but Sunrise XP also saves settings, so if you are like me and have several different PQ's to run, it will save the info for each one, all you have to do is run the saved setting in he GSAK HTML export, then update he same one in Sunrise, and it's ready to go. Anther thing I do is Grab Images in GSAK, it makes Sunrise run even faster if your using an internet connection to update the images. Instead of jumping online, it gets them from the HTML export. I have Dial-Up, so this makes a difference, on high speed it may be not be an issue. Quote
+Thrak Posted April 5, 2008 Author Posted April 5, 2008 Hmmmm..... this happened with files I did with Spinner - not GSAK. The really weird thing is that it happened with only two of the four files I did. Quote
