CenTexDodger
I have an Mapsource Version 3.02 that I have had for a few years. Are the newer mapsource topo versions better? Do they show more detail? Yes, the newest is Topo 2008. They show more road detail, and they seem to be more up to date with regard to POIs and such. Some people have complained that the road data is off, but it is relatively good in the areas I have been. Also, the maps include road names and DEM data (will show elevation of any given point). Trail coverage seems similar to what you have. Some people on here have complained that Garmin shortened some mountains (elevations on the map are lower than real life) Quote Link to comment
+Train_Man
They don't show much more data, and some report them being off by as much as 500 feet in some areas. Unless you're the type that always needs to have the latest, I'd stick with 3.02 Quote Link to comment
Tomas4x4
I have bought it a year ago and it is definitely more up-to-date with reality (although still maybe 10 years behind, but that is good compared to probably 20 for 3.02). Road offsets could be real pain, check this thread, scroll to the bottom for some screenshots. Edited March 25, 2008 by Tomas4x4 Quote Link to comment
