Thinking about buying a laptop.

Recommended Posts

I was thinking about buying my first lap top and I see that the big blue store with a yellow tag has a Dell AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-core Mobile Technology for $699.99 it has Windows vista Home premium, 2GB DDR2 memory, 250GB hard drive reads and writes CD and DVD’s, ATI Radeon expiree 1270 graphics integrated web cam and microphone. I don’t know what all those numbers and words mean, but this will be replacing our current desk top computer.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks.

That's a pretty good price, but you might want to check the Dell Factory Outlet for great deals on refurbs which still have a one year warranty. Just select the model you want or all then click "Filter Results." Then click on "price" to sort by least expensive to most expensive. You can further filter results if you want 2GB of RAM, etc.

Check out Techbargains.com. They often list very good deals. The DELL factory outlet is one link you'll find on their page. You can still get new laptops with XP on them . . . just in case you don't want to encounter Vista headaches . . .

I bought my DELL laptop, still covered by the warranty, on eBay. I saved a several hundred dollars buying it there, from a reputable seller. Also, the shipping cost was much less than the sales tax I would have had to pay if I had purchased it "retail."
