+Jolly Roger
Just curious if there is something I am missing in pulling up local caches. If I throw in my zip code it gives me tons, but I can only pocket query 500. Is there something I am missing? I would just like to add them all on my GPSr. Quote Link to comment
+TrailGators
You can pull all 1100 but it will take 3 PQs. Design the first one by setting the date hidden to <1/1/2004 to start off with. Preview the results and then adjust the date until you get 500 caches. Then make a second PQ and do the same but set the bottom date to the same date you used in PQ#1. Then finish it off by getting the rest with PQ#3. Quote Link to comment

jholly
1100+ caches? Curious minds wonder why you would want so many at one time. Good grief, that is at least a couple years worth of caching and by the time you get near the bottom the info would be really stale. Jim Quote Link to comment

Of course it would take me many years at the rate I cache to find 2,000 caches, but having all area caches comes in handy for spontaneous geocaching. Wherever I am I can check my GPS and see if there are any caches nearby. An hour to kill between appointments? See if there are any caches nearby. Going to visit your in-laws? Maybe there are a few quickies you can bag on the way. Going shopping with the wife? Let her wander the mall while you busy yourself with the nearby caches. Heading out for a hike? Maybe there are caches along your planned route. I like that I can go anywhere in about a 50 mile radius and the caches will be on my unit. I delete all the cache waypoints and refresh the data every few weeks so it's never stale. Quote Link to comment
+Markwell
Take a read here to find out more about pocket queries, including tips and tricks - the second one is about using date ranges. Quote Link to comment
+JohnnyVegas
Depending on the GPS the OP has, some will allow the storage of multiple cache/waypoint files. I have several cache/poi files in my Explorist 500, eack PQ covers about a 5-10 miles radias that is base on coordinates rather then zip codes. This allows me to select the cache file for the area that I am in. Quote Link to comment
