DavidMac
I was looking at some of the various bookmark lists of Delorme and other challenge caches, and noticed that some of them are not up to date. This got me wondering which southeastern states already had challenges, and which ones still have one needing to be set up. With a little digging on the website, forums, and through Google, I compiled a list of every southeast Delorme and County challenge I could find: Alabama: Delorme: yes County: yes Arkansas: Delorme: yes County: no Florida: Delorme: no County: yes, three: north, south, and final. Georgia: Delorme: yes County: no Kentucky: Delorme: yes County: yes Louisiana: Delorme: yes County (er, parish): no Mississippi: Delorme: yes County: yes North Carolina: Delorme: yes County: no South Carolina: Delorme: yes County: no Tennessee: Delorme: yes County: yes Texas: Delorme: no County: yes (believe it or not... and people have actually completed it!) It looks like every state has at least one opportunity to satisfy a challenge craving, but some are still missing: Florida and Texas don't have Delorme challenges while Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, North and South Carolina don't have County challenges. Unless, of course, I just couldn't locate them. Are there any I missed? Now, the challenge (ha ha ) is for someone to set up each of the missing compilation caches. Quote Link to comment
OzGuff
I had thought about placing an NC County Challenge but since I own the NC DeLorme Challenge wanted to give other cachers the chance. And I wanted it to be physically located in a different part of the state, rather than both of them being in/near Asheville. But if nobody places one soon... Quote Link to comment
llatnek
I had thought about placing an NC County Challenge but since I own the NC DeLorme Challenge wanted to give other cachers the chance. ..... Same here for South Carolina. BTW-Before I ever heard of a DeLorme Challenge, I went on my own personal county quest. (easier than NC but harder than RI) Quote Link to comment
Maingray
North Carolina: Delorme: yes County: no yes ! Quote Link to comment
DavidMac
North Carolina: Delorme: yes County: no yes ! Thanks for putting this one together! It looks like it's received quite a bit of positive feedback already... and one finder. Do we have any takers on the remaining challenges? Quote Link to comment
tcatkins99
I'm willing to setup a County Challenge for SC, but I've got a few questions. First, I'm new at Geocaching so I don't know if I need to have a certain "stature" here in order to do something like that. Second, I've not cached every county in the state. Would that prevent me from setting up the cache? Third, is there any reason for/against making this a member's only cache? I've actually already started making a map, but I haven't taken it much further than this yet. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
Deliveryguy428
GA is in the works and should be posted by the end of this week. I also know the same people who are placing the GCC should also be placing one for SC. Quote Link to comment

salutations
We are doing GA and SC..... Georgia is already hidden, but is a little too close to another cache recently hidden (that hasn't been published pending our big event next weekend)..... Look for the GA County Challenge to be published Monday or so..... And SC in the very near future!!!! Quote Link to comment
DavidMac
Updated Version: Alabama: Delorme: yes County: yes Arkansas: Delorme: yes County: no Florida: Delorme: no County: yes, three: north, south, and final. Georgia: Delorme: yes County: yes Kentucky: Delorme: yes County: yes Louisiana: Delorme: yes County (er, parish): no Mississippi: Delorme: yes County: yes North Carolina: Delorme: yes County: yes South Carolina: Delorme: yes County: no Tennessee: Delorme: yes County: yes Texas: Delorme: no County: yes (believe it or not... and people have actually completed it!) As far as I have ben able to determine, we still lack Delorme challenges for Florida and Texas, and County challenges for Arkansas, Louisiana, and South Carolina. Quote Link to comment
shell1fish
I've created a somewhat extensive bookmark list of U.S. Challenge Caches organized by state. It's overkill for just the southeast County and Delorme challenges, but hopefully some will find it useful. +theGeOJos
Third, is there any reason for/against making this a member's only cache? Uhm, I know this might be a little late but HELLO!!!!! Why would you make this a members only cache? That's just... rude. I'm a student who likes to travel around the state. I got my GPS from graduation money, and I am paying my own gas. I don't have money for the premium membership. But that's not the only reason. I do caching for fun, to learn about my state and others. But seriously, if people have gotten a cache in every county, do you honestly think they shouldnt be able to log a county cache, just because they don't pay $30 a year or $3 a month? Next time, think before you click "Add Reply" Quote Link to comment

Next time, think before you click "Add Reply" Don't worry, it's not PMO. And it is maintained by Salutations (see the second link in the post above yours). tcatkins was only asking for opinions, that's all. Though I do agree with you, I don't prefer PMO caches either (I'll find them; I won't hide them). Edited June 12, 2008 by DavidMac Quote Link to comment
DavidMac
Bumping this old thread to update the list. I still don't know of any Delorme Challenges for Florida or Texas. However, with the recent publication of the Louisiana County (Oops! Parish) Challenge, every state now has a county challenge. Be sure to check it out. Alabama: Delorme: yes County: yes Arkansas: Delorme: yes County: yes Florida: Delorme: no County: yes, three: north, south, and final.
