+amaSoekSoek Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 My humble apologies if this quesion has been asked before: Someone has a disabled cache in close facinity of where I live. This place is one of my favourite places. The owner I see now operates (lives) about 1000km away. Is it possible that if I replace the cache- that I can adobt his? Thus showing up as my cache in future? with finds coming to my e-mail? Obviously all with his agreement... How is this done? Quote
+BlueDeuce Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 The cache owner would have to access this site and submit the request to transfer it to you. http://www.geocaching.com/adopt/ Quote

If, for sentimental reasons, you want to actually adopt the listing, the owner needs to unarchive the cache before it can be adopted. Check with your local reviewer & let them know what you want to do, the cache may be placed in a location that wouldn't be approved now, a good piece of info to have before you proceed too far. Quote

+briansnat Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 The easiest way is to start a new cache at the location. If it's disabled he can't. It still counts when determining the .1 mile rule. If it's archived I agree that starting his own cache is the best way to go. Quote
