Delta68
My next idea is to connect the P550 to my laptop to provide dynamic positional information to MemoryMap and GSAK. Any idea how to set this up Moote? (or anyone else) Quote Link to comment
rutson
I /think/ you'll have to use something like GPSgate to achieve this. Quote Link to comment
Delta68
Hmm... OK thanks It's easy with the Etrex - just plug it in! Quote Link to comment
Bear and Ragged
Hmm... OK thanks It's easy with the Etrex - just plug it in! Think I've had a postion on the laptop, in MemoryMap, whilst the Mio PDA has been connected... No other settings needed. Bit like connecting the Erex. Quote Link to comment
Delta68
Hmm... I'll have another play with it later. There just didn't seem to be any appropriate settings options... Quote Link to comment
Moote
OK, in theory it could be done, but I believe it would take a 2 part solution. Part one would be an application to interface the GPSr part of the PDA with the data port. Part 2 would be to build a windows driver, to convert the data stream into NMEA readable by all your PC programs. All this is doable in theory, but I'm not sure there is a market to convince a programmer to do it! Moote Quote Link to comment
rutson
Except that GPSgate already does this... Quote Link to comment
PopUpPirate
Hmmm a bit Heath Robinson but you could mark your current position on the PDA, then Mobile Device > Import Data on the lappy. Quote Link to comment
Delta68
Looks like I'll be using the Etrex then! Quote Link to comment
Bear and Ragged
Just checked my set-up, and PPC gives a reading to the laptop and Memory Map, to show my postition... It just works. And I'm a techno-numpty on PC's! G Quote Link to comment

Moote
Except that GPSgate already does this... So what are the settings, I can't see any NMEA data streaming down my USB cable whatever settings I make on my PDA. Also, to function with 3rd party apps on your PC you would be required to specify what port to use; be that a COM port or USB pseudo port. Quote Link to comment

Sorry I have done it but not over a cable, I have set up a bluetooth to bluetooth PPC GPSGate to PC GPSGate, but cable looks harder as I see it Quote Link to comment
rutson
Ah, not obvious. You'd have to have GPS gate installed on the PC and the PPC. Quote Link to comment
