Longview TX info

I can't offer specifics...I grew up about an hour south of there (in a smaller town than Longview). As long as you don't mind the small-town parts of it, East Texas isn't a bad place at all. And hey, you're only a couple of hours from Dallas if you need a big city fix.

The weather will be warm and humid a lot of the time...think images of deep south (lush grass, huge pine trees, etc), that's the climate you're entering. The people are VERY friendly even when they'll make fun of you'un yankees fer talkin funny.

Again, you do sometimes get the small-town busybody feel, but generally, people will go out of their way to help you out and make you feel welcome.

You can check out the local cachers here: Pineywoods Cachers

I'm sure someone will be happy to give you some details on Longview itself.

Welcome to the lone star state! If you're ever traveling down to Austin, I'd be glad to take you around to a few local caches.

Hey! Anyone have any info about this area as we may have to relocate here and no NOTHING about Longview, Would love info about rental areas, good vs. worse, weather...jobs...quality of life...people.. ANYTHING!!! We are pretty nervous. Thanks all! ;)

I am a transplant from that area..ish myself. I have been here in Longview for 2 years and I love East Texas. The weather is great.. there is not really any snow or ice,in comparison,in the winter, although it does get cold(not at all as bad as up there). Summer gets pretty hot, but every place has air conditioning so not to worry. We have all 4 seasons down here... and you get to enjoy each...lol. The people are VERY friendly down here. I think if you have to relocate here you will love it!!! We are getting ready to move out of Longview, but still remaining in East Texas

Well, you're a short distance from the Casinos in Shreveport. Close to a *huge* First Monday sale in Canton, as well as a host of small towns to visit. If you ride a motorcycle there are lots of things to see. Sadly, I think they closed the topless chicken fried steak restaurant some years ago.

I live and work in Longview. Been here since 1987. My wife was born and raised here.

I'd love to answer any questions. You can reach me through my profile (TexasChuck)
