+RogFel
Last night while messing around I accidentally deleted one of the map files from my CO 300. Not sure what the files name was but I now only have the file called - gmapbmap.img 92708 KB on the machine. I know that I had 2 gmmap?map.img files on the machine. Is there anyway that someone could send me the lost file? Or tell me where I could download it? Or is it needed? I don't notice any difference in the Colorado's operation. Thanks Quote Link to comment

Thanks The one you still have is the built-in basemap. Did you download another map file to the unit? If so, just redownload it. The only .img file I have besides the image I set for my downloaded maps is the basemap. Quote Link to comment
+RogFel
DUH! You may be right! I was fooling around with MetroGuide the other day and I may have loaded a small map on the unit instead of the card. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
+apersson850
Yes, that must be it. Had it been a 400, it would have been worse, since then it could have been some of the pre-installed maps. Quote Link to comment
saugi
Hi, I have exactly the opposite problem: my son deleted accidently some files in the /Garmin-Share. I now know Any help highly appreciated!! Thanks, saugi Quote Link to comment
+Vegas Gamblers
Well since we are talkiing about this, I don't want to delete anything off of my 400t. How do I make back up files so I don't delete anything. Quote Link to comment
saugi
Well, just copy&paste the entire Garmin-share to a safe place... I wish I had Quote Link to comment
+Geocaching-Geckos
Well, I learned the hard way the value of having a backup of the files on my hard drive! Thankfully, my story had a happy ending and I was able to obtain the basemaps from a very helpful Garmin Cust Srv person. I also have a Colorado 300, so I could upload them tonight if you just give me a location. Quote Link to comment
+Sparky of SoCal
I have a 400T that I screwed up and erased the unit map with just one little click.I called Garmin and I was suprised how helpful they were.First of all I was told I was not the first to do it.May be some updates will add something to warn you what your doing? He did not thing he could send the file that size to me,something to do with AOL.So I sent my unit back and they will send me a new one.I will save this units info to a disk to cover my stupid self in the future.Granted I have not received the new unit as of yet but if things go right Garmin in my hero. saugi
@Geocaching-Geckos: Thanks a lot for your offer, another guy mad a similar one and is going to send me his backup data. If that should fail I would be glad to come back to you. Does anybody know if taking the data files from another Colorado and uploading to mine does work at all? Or is the unit ID or something similar coded somewhere so it won't accept these files? Thanks to all for your help, saugi Quote Link to comment
+apersson850
Has anybody tried changing the file attribute to read-only? If it still works then, you can do that. Then at least it will ask once more if you want to delete it. Quote Link to comment
+jotne
@RogFel Send me an email/PM and I will help you to get hold of the gmapbmap.img file Quote Link to comment
+jotne
Colorado do work fine with gmapbmap.img in read only mode. But if you click del button, all you have to do to remove it is apply OK button. So not so much safer. Take a backup of all you files.. Quote Link to comment
+apersson850
It's not much safer, I know. But at least you have to be stupid twice in rapid succession. Quote Link to comment
+LightHouseSeekers
I decided before I got stupid again I copied all of my 300 to my PC; however previously I accidently deleted my Recreational.gpf. Can someone me a copy of that file? Edited March 8, 2008 by LightHouseSeekers Quote Link to comment
