+WeightMan
The best place to get help with this is the GSAK forums. There are lots of folks over there ready willing and able to help. Quote Link to comment
+Lt.Ranger.Bob
In GSAK click on the GPS menu option. Select Setup. Select brand - Garmin if it is not already selected, then unselect USB if it is selected. Then select Com 5 in the drop down menu for the communication port. Click on the OK tab to save your changes. Mag Magician
We found that if your Garmin is turned on and connected to the usb/serial adaptor when Windows is booted, it is then recognized. If you try to plug it in after boot up, it is not. Quote Link to comment

But I'm assuming that you already did that. Given that once you set up the connection, it will only work in one USB slot, as each slot is mapped to a different COM port. So try each of your USB slots, and you don't need to start the computer with it connected, unless you have a very old operating system. Quote Link to comment

We only have XP Corporate, SP2. Quote Link to comment
+heebinator
I've also seen one USB/Serial converter work and another not. I don't know why.... Quote Link to comment
