+W7WT
I think this is a great idea that Dick came up with. Everyone can add to his, as I will dub it, "Kitsap's Most Wanted" list of maps, that need cachers to hide a cache in, in order to help others complete this challenge. Very Brilliant Dick. Since the challenge guidelines mention that all finds have to be after the inception of this challenge, this list should serve as a very good reference point for participants, needing a particular map, and others that may want to hide one. Here is the brilliant part Hawk. After we have the Kitsap's Most Wanted list, all we ask is each participant to pick a MAP or two from the list THAT THEY DON'T NEED and would be willing to place a cache there. I understand why participants don't want to place a cache in a map they need when they can't count it. This way they are helping each other without getting credit for placing a cache. If it turns out that we have some maps that everyone needs, we can consider giving credit for a find. Dick Quote Link to comment
+W7WT
Regarding Map 680. Arlene and I hiked in for "The SWAMP" yesterday. Not a bad hike even for a couple in their eighties. Looking over past finds the only participant I found was Quadmommie. I would recommend this cache to anyone, other than Donna, who needs 680. The trail was dry and for the most part very open. There is some hills but we made it OK. Not really a swamp but a beaverpond. Nice cache with good coordinates. Our GPSs indicated .7 miles to the cache from the trailhead. Also we found Alien Cache in Banner Forest fairly easy for Map 652. About a half mile round trip if you take the right trails. As usual the trails were muddy. Quote Link to comment
+W7WT
Those needing MAP 559, don't overlook GC15ATC Rush to Guillemot and GCWYV4 The Point of No Return. They are just inside map 559. I see that many of you have already found them. Quote Link to comment

+W7WT
Map 451 only has two caches GCPD93 Thunderbird Track #7 and GCRH46 Nate's Cache which had just been archived. Both of these caches were in or near Kitsap Memorial State Park. If you found the Thunderbird Track before February 18th you will have to wait for another cache to be placed. If there is any NK cachers looking for a place to put a cache, this is a area that you might consider. Thanks Dick Quote Link to comment
+W7WT
Some of you needing Map 433, Cemetery Quest-Eglon GCGC4A is in map 433. It is just inside the the western border which is 122°32.200 W and the Longitude coords for the cache is 122°32.006. HeadLama has some really great caches but was never known to have that great of coordinates for his caches. Quote Link to comment

+W7WT
Same for me Jim, the reason I mentioned Cemetery Quest-Eglon is that is is so close to the line that some might not know it is in map 433, Dick Quote Link to comment

+-Hawk-
Thanks for bringing up the Cemetery Quest-Eglon cache. Jennie and I had noticed that it was fairly close to the edge with 432 when we were going through the caches for the pages. I remember that cache specifically, as there were several cows insistent on knowing what we were doing there, causing me to dub them 'Moogles' After finding all of the Cemetery Quest caches, and adopting one of them, it is a true unfortunate thing, that HeadLlama's coords did seem to be off for the most part. Also, I second the Thanks to Jim, for placing another cache, one in #563. Which Ironically, Molly was FTF on, so I guess congrats is in order for the both of them Quote Link to comment
+slowestmover
Mack-Daddy and I would like to publicly thank Jim for placing the cache in 563 and another thank you to Dick and -Hawk- for the kind words of support and encouragement to all KCC participants. I wish now that we hadn't been so efficient in our previous caching adventures...we always tried to nail down every cache in any area we were caching in to justify the gas expense. We got the Eglon Cemetery cache ages ago and yes I remember the coords were less than perfect and one of the WPs couldn't be located. Still it was about as much fun as one can have in a cemetery. As soon as Mack-Daddy and I are over our colds, we hope to be out there again looking for caches, KCC-related or not. Happy caching to all, slowestmover Quote Link to comment
+W7WT
OK Molly time to drag Mack-Daddy off the couch and go find two new caches in Map 433. jholly placed "Are There any Bears" and shomethecache has placed 433. They are within .2 miles of each other. My maps looks like you have to approach them from the north via Eglon Rd NE. Can they also be approached from the south? Thanks to both jholly and shomethecache. dick Quote Link to comment

So today he is feeling much better (almost spritely) while I continue to sink at the pier. I don't think I could handle even the shortest, easiest hike right now. Hawk is the co-host of the event and is the young man in shirt sleeves running around doing everything. If you sign up for the GPS Accuracy Game you will see a canopy with a painting of W7WT saying W7WT Open or something like that. Under the canopy, setting in a chair will be an old man with a gray beard wearing a heavy coat and doing nothing. That will be me. Hope to meet all of you there. Dick Quote Link to comment

jholly
I would consider placing caches to help out on maps needed from 471-473 north and 501. (I think most in the 400's should be covered with recent hides) I might consider ones in 589, 559, 529 or 560. I think Bainbridge should be covered. There's plenty in 590 To help me set priorities and help the most, please email me at my GC email (in my profile) with your wish list. +W7WT
Thanks Jim, e-mail sent. Dick I haven't been getting any e-mails alerting me to new caches since I replaced my old harddrive. Today I reset the request and now I am getting about 10 an hour. All from Seattle. I only live 11 miles from the space needle. If I shorted it up to 10 miles I miss out on some of the caches in NK and SK. Anyway, I missed out on the new cache that Jim jholly put out. It is "ODS Tree Farm #5 in Map 471. +-Hawk-
For those that may be interested, a new cache for Map 681 (the extreme northwest corner) has been placed by sarahmjones & Team*Bishop, called GLINT-enstein!!! (GC1AFKV). I know that the new cache notification has been an issue, and some of you on the north end of the county may not have received notice of it. Also keep in mind that this is an unknown/mystery cache, so Dick and I will be using the published coordinates on the top of the listing, to determine which map # it falls on, NOT the actual location of the container. +W7WT
Congrats Molly and Mike for being FTF on Just Because. I must say the location of that cache in on one of the nicest trails I have been on in Kitsap County. Map 529 is sort of like Map 413, Just isn't a lot of room for a new cache. Maybe the Seabeck Tribe can place one there when things settle down for them. Also thanks for wishing Arlene well. I am not a very good care taker. She doesn't have an appointment until 16th to see a specialist. In the meantime she is staying off her ankle. The Alaska trip will be put on hold probably until late summer. +W7WT
It has come to our attention that some cachers are trying to do the Kitsap County Challenge without a Thomas Guide and that is OK. I understand that Walmart is selling them for over $20. I haven't check lately but Costco was selling them for $9.99 plus tax which makes it almost $11 a copy. First thing is I have to check to see if Costco still has them. If they do and you will be attending the Spring Fling, I am willing to buy them and sell them to you for $11 at the Spring Fling. They would make a great prize for entrance to the GPS Accuracy Contest as well as help you get around Kitsap County even if you are not participating in the KCC. I cannot list this on either the Cache page for the Kitsap County Challenge or the Spring Fling Event so if you have friends that don't use the forum you might advise them. If you wish one let me know via e-mail or on the forum. If someone really needs one, they could also pick it up at my home near the Kitsap main library in East Bremerton. I was at Costco yesterday and forgot to look so if any of you are going to the Silverdale Costco, please advise me that they still have them at $9.99. I will not be making any special trips to pick them up, unless the weather improves and I can ride my scooter. As they say this is a limited time offer. Dick Quote Link to comment

+W7WT
I've seen them at the Poulsbo Home Depot. I didn't check the price. Jim Thanks Jim, it may turn out that there is not that many that need it. I really don't want to get into the book business but am willing to help those that want one. It is a high quality book. I am sure yours got a lot of use as has mine and it still looks good. I checked online and the sales tax in Silverdale is .086 which added to the $9.99 comes out to $10.85 cents. The only reason I am asking $11 is I don't want to make change. I will be making a whopping 15 cents a book. If I buy and sell 10 I would make $1.50 which would just about pay for my gas if I rode the scooter which gets around 50 mpg. Dick Quote Link to comment

And it is named:ONLY SPOT GC1B9G3 by Shomethecache. Tomorrow morning I have to take Arlene back to Westsound Orthopedic to have a bone density scan. She has to stay off her ankle for three more weeks at least when she see her Doctor again. We will look for the cache on the way. +W7WT
June 1 by W7WT (2210 found) Just a update for KCC participants. Arlene and I will leave next Saturday on a Delorme run to Eastern and Southern Washington State. Will be home the following Tuesday. Then we will leave for Alaska after the 4th of July and be gone for four to five weeks. Here is an update on the top runners for the KCC. Captsteiny needs 623, 559, 680 and 682 plus final. Geopoppa and Geobarista are on vacation in VA, but as 5-3-08 they had the following. They send us a MS Word list. Geopoppa needs 432, 559, 623 and 652 plus final Geobarista needs 432, 501, 559, 623, 651 and 652 plus final Booklady needs 432, 433, 472, 559, 560, 562 and 680 plus final. The Porters in Washington need 412, 473, 503, 532, 533, 563, 589, 590, 593, 619 and 620 plus final We know that Gotreking 89's are doing the KCC but are not submitting to the KCC bookmark. It takes about four hours to verify the whole bookmark. I would incourage everyone to keep your KCC bookmark up to date, if you want instant verification when you finish. I will be on trips on and off the rest of the summer but will try to update your verification once a day when I am home. Quote Link to comment
+W7WT
Hello everyone. We are back from Alaska. Accomplished everything we intended to. Stayed three days with our son in Fairbanks. He drove us around and we found 7 caches. Then our Granddaughter and her boyfriend drove up from Denali where she had just finished her 7th trip leading climbs to the top of the mountain. Hadn't seen her since she was a little girl. So we now have cached in all the states. We came back via Jasper and Banff then down to NE WA where we picked up our last county - Pend O'relle. All we have to do now is the final. We also got our 2300 find at a earthcache at Ross Lake. Now we have only one page of the Delorme Challenge and that is in the Trinity Mine area. Will probably not see you at the GeoLuau as we are having ear surgery on the 12th. We will show up if can. Great to be back in Kitsap County. Dick Quote Link to comment
