The caching family must have read the rules on the coin’s page and they just played according to that. The longest distance rule can also be interpreted in two ways (per racer or racer with longest distance), but this time the DiePienaars coin would score most as it traveled from New Zealand to the UK. 19142.1 Km/11894.3Miles in one hop. (Only to the moon can beat that) We are also glad to see Cybervoorterker on the move after been kidnapped. Quote Link to comment

I'm also looking forward to the psot mortem - e.g. most interesting post / most unusual cache or event attended / how many total miles / number of caches etc. Perhaps we should get a statsguru in? In an Australia cache I thought for a moment the coin was missing as three weeks went pass and cachers log that they don’t see any coins. Turns up then that a New Zealander picked it up while on holiday and logged it only when he was back. Then when the coin hit the Bahamas I thought now its going to collect dormancy points, then it turned out that another cacher on his honey moon was on the same ship and took the coin back to the US, and he was a newbie and received a GPS as a gift before his wedding. The coin was picked up on his second cache ever found. The two cachers traveled on the same ship, but still they did not know of each other. (It’s amazed how much luck the coin had). I have just learnt how BIG geocaching in the US is. (No wonder that they can have these MEGA events) I think if any other racer made it to the US first, he would have been the winner as the American geocaching is just that HUGE. If you look at their profiles, to see family caching from grand parents to grand kids, the whole family. Also to have less than 1000 finds you are still a newbie. We also made a few caching friends around the world that is now on our friend list and is still following the coins progress. I have also learnt quite a bit geographically about some places that I never heard of. (All thanks to this race), as obviously I was also following all the racers and I then theck out the caches and places they are at. The most interesting cache I have seen is in the US (GC1JTJY Please water Mr. C's Flowers ) where you need to take 5 gallons of water to the cache and water the plants, and walla the cache pop up somewhere. It took 15 odd months for the winning rat TB to make it from the UAE to Cape Town TB hotel and back to Jebel Hafeet cache. Even if it was frustrating having TB's sitting doing nothing for a few months - and also thinking one had good points -and then seeing that the rules penalised you. I've just had a wonderful last sprint by Stars & Stripes - Germany to Hong Kong and back. But the new cacher who picked it up in HK - moved it a few km and then dipped it into a virtual before sending back to Germany - hope that it does not get penalised for a cacher not reading the rules!!! In most places, I am awarding 30 points for 1st place, 20 for second place, and 10 compensation points for last place. As might be expected, Diepienaars coin did pretty well in the awards, but a lot of the awards are also given on a per cache basis, so anyone could win those. I am giving away an incredible 1020 points in these prizes.
