Chrisk7
Does the 60csx receive 12 volts from the power cable or is it regulated down? I thought that the bare wire cable was not regulated but I checked the 12v cigarette lighter adapter cable I have and it seems to be regulated to around 5 volts I think. I was wondering if I could just cut the automotive cigarette lighter plug off and use the bare wires to wire direct to 12 volts for a motorcycle use or do I have to buy the bare wire power cable separately? Is the bare wire cable for these regulated or not? Quote Link to comment
+Styk
Regulation is done within the unit when using the 4 pin round socket. It is capable of handling 36V. Quote Link to comment
Smac999
USB devices are 5volts. it would be regulated somewhere, probably in the cig plug part. I woudln't try to put 12v into a USB plug. no idea what the above person is taking about with a round plug... Quote Link to comment

I hard wired my old garmin cig. lighter plug in to the car so it gets 12V. i did include a fuse though, just in case. Quote Link to comment

I also took my old GPS II+ power cord and connected it to a constantly powered 12v fuse in my car. Works great to power the 60CSx. (I did call Garmin about this first, to check compatibility.)
