dan8055
I have heard of actual geocaching stores not websights but cant seem to find anything about it online. Any one know anything?? Quote Link to comment
9Key
I can't imagine a non-web based geocaching store would stay in business very long. There just aren't that many of us. I could see REI or other specialty outdoor retailer carrying a small selection of items, but not an entire store. Quote Link to comment
sbell111
Every military surplus store on the planet is my 'geocaching' store. Quote Link to comment
JohnnyVegas
Geocaching is not large enough to support a store that would be 100% geocaching related. Geocaching may not even be big enough to support a geocaching dept in a store. Quote Link to comment
meralgia
the online geocaching stores are all I've needed. Quote Link to comment
Road Rabbit
There's one at N28 21.316 W080 41.835 (Merritt Island, FL) that has a real storefront as well as an internet presence. It's in a separate room of their "real" business, but the name's on the front window. They are founding members of the Space Coast Geocachers Association. Quote Link to comment
logonwheeler
I have contemplated partnering up with a current map store here in town. It would be integrated with the store but the records would be kept completely separate. But as the others have mentioned, there just is not enough cachers in most local areas to support the overhead that owning a physical storefront costs. Who knows, with Geocaching's popularity it might be possible some day as a stand alone store if given the right conditions! Quote Link to comment
meralgia
even if there were a storefront, would you welcome the resultant cachers? they may be excited to get into the game, and perhaps they'd last for a while, but if they peter out after placing a few caches of their own, then we're left with geotrash. Dunno. It's kinda like scrapbooking--hit or miss, a little pricey to start, and a passing fad for some. Quote Link to comment
