briansnat Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Not at all. I've hidden and found numerous caches that required a boat. They are a lot of fun. Quote
BlueDeuce Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Abby's Treasure Island Keep in mind that caches that require a boat are usually terrain level 5 due to the equipment requirement. Quote
meralgia Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 My son and i slogged through what amounted to a swamp to get a cache on an island. We giggled all the way (except when we had to walk barefoot through a couple of stick-littered stretches and crawl through what seemed like briars). The suggestion online was that you wait until winter when the lake freezes over unless you were crazy. We preferred to be crazy!! Quote
The Jester Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 New to the game., and have a Q. are caches on the water taboo? (lakes and rivers?) They are even allowed under the water - that's what the scuba attribute is for! Quote
infiniteMPG Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 (edited) New to the game., and have a Q. are caches on the water taboo? (lakes and rivers?)As long as they are stationary then on, around and under are fine. Something to keep in mind we have learned from our paddle only caches, be aware that river and water levels change due to tide or rainfall. We have placed caches in and on trees and stumps sticking up out of rivers. When we placed them they were comfortable finds from a kayak. Then when the river got low, people basically had to climb out of their boat and up the stumps to get to them. Oops. Live and learn. But we have several paddle only caches and even some paddle only multi-caches. People love the challenges. We thought the big paddle multi we placed wouldn't be found for a long time but it was found only a couple days after placing. Hard core FTF addicts! Go for it! If it's not allowed, the reviewer will let you know.... Edited February 14, 2008 by infiniteMPG Quote
