Needs pen as an attribute

I know it normally gets added into the cache description but may help some ?

Experience will teach you to always carry a pen/pencil. Even if a cache has a pen it can wear out.

I have found so many caches that if a pen or pencil were included, there is no way my fingers would ever be able to hold it, much less use it to sign a log.

 

If such an attribute were added, could we be able to apply it to the profile of cachers who fail to carry one of their own?

If you get to a cache, and don't have a writing instrument to sign the log, you are already very well aquainted with the person who's fault it is. No attrbute icon needed to identify the problem.

That would imply that one needs to bring a pen only to those caches carrying that attribute. Nothing could be further from the truth.

It would be good to have as an attribute, especially for the Micro's, but like someone else said, you should always have one with you. I always carry a few, just incase. If I don't sign the log because I don't have a pen or pencil, then I won't log it, and to me, it seems like a lot of effort to waste a smiley, because I wasn't prepared.

I always try to have a pen with me: it's insurance. But so is the pen in the cache, given how often the pen in my pocket goes missing!

 

If I find a cache (other than most micros) that doesn't have a pen or has a non-working pen I'll try to add one; I found some small felt tip pens that fit in most small caches.

I would find this attribute about as useful as a "pants required" and "no pants required" attribute pair.

 

Now, if Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan were geocachers, I might think differently. They often forget to carry a pen.

You are only allowed to choose ten (10) attributes when hiding a cache. This forces the hider to choose only the most relevant attributes pertaining to his/her cache. If I were hiding a cache, and had to choose between more than the ten allowed, Needs pen would not be one of my selections, seeing as I would expect most cachers to be carrying their own.

 

 

Perhaps a "You will most likely lose the pen you have on your way to find this cache" attribute would be appropriate for all of the caches I seek.
