Didjerrydo
OK, I give up- what's the trick to supposedly being able to "load your own" display background in the Garmin Colorado's? I assume you can somehow use a .jpg image taken with a digital camera but I've yet to figure out how to make it happen. Quote Link to comment
+GOT GPS?
I think only the Street Pilots are setup to allow a user startup screen, but I wouldn't know about the other GPS units, but I do know that it can't be done on the 60CSx Quote Link to comment

Trouble is it doesn't say how. I've tried to choose an image in "picture viewer, but that's not an option apparently. Quote Link to comment

Connect the Garmin to your PC and copy the .jpg file into [drive]:\Garmin\Profiles. Disconnect, power on the Garmin and goto Shortcut->Setup->Display->Background and select the file you just downloaded. Only JPG's work. GO$Rs Quote Link to comment

Just because a company advertises that a product will do something, doesn't mean one should actually expect the product to deliver or that the company should actually provide clear instruction on how to accomplish a task. What world are you from??? Quote Link to comment

I don't know if it will size them on the fly, but they should be 240x400 pixels. I'm using various photos as backgrounds on my 400. It's cute, but for the sake of legibility I'll probably create an off-white rectangle to use once I get over the novelty of pictures. Edited January 25, 2008 by Manatee87 Quote Link to comment
+WoodenShoe
When my unit arrives from gpscity I will have to see if I can find or set up a 240 X 400 picture of a wooden shoe then again I think I like the idea of an all white or light colored background also! The others novelty will wear off fast if it gets in the way of the display! Bob Quote Link to comment

Cool, I resized in PhotoShop to 240X400 pixels, 72 dpi, and 3.333" X 5.556 " then added text with my personal data (if found stuff) and put it in the Profiles directory and it worked like a charm! Thanks. Quote Link to comment
+Marky
I liike signal, so I just take the monthly wallpaper screens and make a 240x400 image from part of the image. Here's my current background: Quote Link to comment
