j_banks1231 Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Okay, I apologize if I am in the wrong forum, but I came upon one of these little things the other day at the boat launch in Fairhope, Alabama. I tried to look it up on the internet, but I couldn't find this one. Here are a few pics and if anyone could help me, that would be great! Thanks. Quote
+Team_CSG Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 I'm wondering if the cache was archived? Were there any signature on a log sheet? Quote
+StarBrand Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Can you naorrow down the location a bit?? Might be this one.... http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...95-4d9fe0ee6824 Or click on the nearby caches....... Quote
j_banks1231 Posted January 21, 2008 Author Posted January 21, 2008 That could be it. It was found by Pier Ave. in Fairhope along the cement walkways. Although one person said it was wet, the one I found doesn't appear to have ever gotten wet. It has been found by RdRidr, 2mudbugs, and roundnround we go among others. Quote

j_banks1231 Posted January 21, 2008 Author Posted January 21, 2008 I am. I read the note inside and I am going to put it back tomorrow, I was just curious as to who had placed it there and how this all works because it seems interesting to me. Quote
+StarBrand Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 This one???? http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...68-aa691fdfa688 It is a matchbox case that has gone missing - this could be it..... Quote
j_banks1231 Posted January 21, 2008 Author Posted January 21, 2008 It could be. I will try and contact this person and return it to him if possible. Quote
+joranda Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 You need to get a GPS and get in the game. Quote

Good chance thats the one. Thats one of the few we did in that area before we joined up with Cache & Keri, rock&crystal and the rest of the gang on the cache train that day. Quote
j_banks1231 Posted January 22, 2008 Author Posted January 22, 2008 (edited) I'm basically 100% sure that's the one. And you're log is on there also. I sent the guy an email so hopefully he can retreive it from me. My grandfather and I found it right by the sidewalk, but on its page, it said it was velcroed so I guess someone removed it and then threw it down. Edited January 22, 2008 by j_banks1231 Quote

I am guessing maybe more likely the bond between the container and the velcro went bad. At any rate, we appreciate the effort to get this back to the owner. It's a fun hobby...if you get a GPS we'd love to have you as a fellow geocacher. Quote
+briansnat Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Well it's very nice of you to take the trouble to come here and try to get it back to its rightful owner. Quote

All I can add is a THANK YOU! for doing the right thing once you realized what the game was all about. I'm sure many caches of all shapes and sizes have disappeared in a similar fashion but the finder didn't take the time to look us up. Kudo's on your effort. I hope you can come up with a GPS and join in on the fun! Jim.. Quote
j_banks1231 Posted January 22, 2008 Author Posted January 22, 2008 Yeah, it sounds like fun. I defiantly have too much free time on my hands and I will defiantly look into getting a GPS so I can join. Thanks Quote
+Snoogans Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Well it's very nice of you to take the trouble to come here and try to get it back to its rightful owner. That's what I was thinking. It will be interesting to see if the OP stays in the game. It certainly is an interesting start. Quote
+Flo. Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 As a person who has had 2 geocaches muggled, I would also like to thank you for trying to get the geocache back to its orginial owner. I hope you decide to join us in our addiction. Quote

Cached for a couple of weeks without a GPSr...and it was a BEOTCH! Quote
