Nochipra Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Who owns the most activated geocoins to date? Whether they are released or are just in your collection? We only have a little over 60 coins activated which is not too many by some standards? Quote
MustangJoni Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 I would think that if Marky doesn't have the most, he is pretty darn close! Quote
Dr. Whoever Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Currently I have 926 activated and over 300 traveling. I am not even close to the top however. I know of one person who I saw with over 2000 activated. Quote
Jeepster++ Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 With only one activated coin I guess I'm at the bottom of the list but I'm working on it... Quote
ArtieD Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 ...and here I thought I had quite a few activated with around 200...silly me. Quote
Ilonka1980 Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Almost all my coins are not activated. I've got only 10 activated and 6 are on a trip (1 lost) Quote
The Horn Hunters Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 With only one activated coin I guess I'm at the bottom of the list but I'm working on it... But you are not alone. I finally got my first geocoin yesterday in the mail and activated it. Quote
Droo Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Last I heard Marky & Joani had over 3000 activated. Don't go checking their profile on dial-up as it may take 1/2 an hour to open their trackables page. Quote
The Klever Boys Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 I think I may be getting towards the most outside of the USA, but my collection looks small when looking at profiles such as Marky's However, to put things in perspective, there are a lot of people who have huge collections of trackables, but just haven't activated them (and also people who have activated 50-odd coins of one type as they had them made). They had 2523 of their own trackables and 3000 that they had helped along in travels. Wow! Now that's a collection Quote
BlueDeuce Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 With only one activated coin I guess I'm at the bottom of the list but I'm working on it... Ha! Gotcha beat: 0 Quote
GBOTS Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Hopefully, we would be somewhere in the bottom 10 Quote
BirdManOfCT Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 161 here. I do it mostly to get other people to get icons. Ultimately, I don't expect any of the coins to survive (probably losing about 20% a year). I could re-launch with a laminated replica, but haven't chosen to do that. Yet. Quote
Lazer Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 (edited) I have about 660 activated and a few of those are traveling, but I am sure I'm nowhere near the top! I just enjoy letting people look at my collection and log ever how many they want of them. Edited January 20, 2008 by Lazer Quote
R/GBOTS Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Who owns the most activated geocoins to date? Whether they are released or are just in your collection? Why activate coins in your collection? Quote
Nochipra Posted January 20, 2008 Author Posted January 20, 2008 Who owns the most activated geocoins to date? Whether they are released or are just in your collection? Why activate coins in your collection? Well Rockin Roddy can give you a real good reason. He had recently had his book of geocoins stolen and when the police found them they located him through this site and will soon be having them returned to him. I think that is a pretty good reason to activate them especially if you take them to events. I also enjoy the icons:) Quote
MustangJoni Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 I activate mine just because I enjoy doing it. I don't mind sharing my collection with my friends, but I actually love the act of activating my coins. LOL - I have a certain "procedure" I go through to activate them. To me, it is part of my fun in collecting. Quote
Frank n Beck Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Im at the bottom with 28 activations. Quote
The Klever Boys Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Who owns the most activated geocoins to date? Whether they are released or are just in your collection? Why activate coins in your collection? The way I look at it is that in most cases you have paid a premium for the coin to have an icon and I think that if I've paid for it, I might as well have it Quote

eklector Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I've looked at some of these activated collections - VERY IMPRESSIVE!!!! working on mine but its slow going However I am enjoying every new coin I get Quote

To me, it is part of my fun in collecting. A certain procedure hey, pray do tell us more It involves chanting and dancing! No, really, when I activate coins, I don't just activate them. I add them to my coin tracking list, and my Geocoin Gallery List. I usually have to take a picture of it. If there isn't a picture of it at the Geocoin Gallery I take a front and back picture for them. Then I have to edit that to take out the tracking number. Then I keep a spreadsheet of all my tracking numbers. Then finding the right spot in the right binder could take a while. My binders have a "flow" Yes, it takes a while for me to activate coins, and I'm sitting on about 8 or 9 I need to activate now! But I do enjoy it! Quote

007BigD Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I just checked and I have 131 coins activated 89 of those coins are travelers that are either traveling or waiting for me to release. I hope to get a laminating machine and figure out labels and tags N such...eventually all of my travelers will have a tag with their mission statement attached! Hopefully that will help keep them safe a little better! I just released my jAY miLLS Rasta Heart today! May all of our coins travel well! And Thank you to all who release them! Quote
OverTheEdge Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I'm not even close! I am hoping to have close to 100 travelers by the end of the year - It's a personal goal. It's fun to see who has the big numbers. I can only hope to have those types of numbers in the future... Quote
SwedenHawk Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I have approx. 720 coins in my collection right now and 400 of them are activated... So I think I'm somewhere in the middle of this list... I'm especially interested in the following: Who are the one with the largest collection here in Germany or in Europe? Quote
The Klever Boys Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I'm especially interested in the following: Who are the one with the largest collection here in Germany or in Europe? OK, I'll start the ball rolling: I'm in England and have 1492 activated at the moment... Quote
bugsmasher69 Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I have 296 coins activated. All are out traveling but 25 or so but they will be put in caches once the weather gets a little nicer. Quote
chaosmanor Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 We have 524 activated geocoins, and likely about that many unactivated that I haven't gotten around to working on, yet. Not even close to #1, but I think we're closer to the top than the bottom I bet that f0t0m0m is in the running for #1, but they almost never post here, so I looked at their profile: only 400 or so activated, but I bet that they have far more unactivated than we do. If they had them all in the system, it might be a couple of thousand. As for Marky, I can't imagine actually moving 2000 Travel Bugs! Quote
Marky Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 As for Marky, I can't imagine actually moving 2000 Travel Bugs! Not to mention adding helper tags on most of them that needed it. That's all Joani though, she's really the traveller junkie and always has been. --Marky Quote
Tennessee Jed Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 (edited) I have but a fraction of Markys, 806 activated and several hundred non trackable. Edited February 2, 2008 by Tennessee Jed Quote
avroair Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 My activated list used to be much bigger, but I have shed about half of them, I now have about 40 activated in the wild. Quote
