Hi, Martin.

Hey, be careful digging around old WWII areas where you see things on a metal detector! ;)

It's easy to create a new topic on this forum. Go to the main page of this forum. You'll see an icon near the upper right that says "New Topic." Click on that, type a subject in the Topic Title field (you don't need to give a Topic Description unless you want to), then enter your message and click Post New Topic. (Or click Preview Post first.)

Your English is just fine! I've seen Internet postings from native English speakers who aren't as understandable as you are! :D

LX1774 SIDE

This is on the east side of the Hudson about 1/2 miles north of the Manitiou Metro North flag stop (weekends only), and a bit over a mile north of the Bear Mountain Bridge.

I couldn't find this last fall. Note from the dark color and moss where the tide reaches. I suspect it may have been under or close to under the high tide then.

Here's RM 1 in the foreground. That's a bit lower and definately would have been under water.

These are pictures of a mark I just happened to stumble upon while geocaching in Iraq. Nothing special to look at, but I figured the location is what makes it unique.

As you guys can imagine, I was extremely surprised to see one of these, considering the circumstances. Obviously, I cant tell you where without someone yelling and screaming about OPSEC, even though you can see everything and more on Google Earth. <_<

Anyway, just thought I'd share. Got home a few weeks ago and I plan on going on my first all day BM trip tomorrow, so hopefully Ill have some more pics to add. B)

Great photos everyone!

We recently got back from a vacation to very Northern California (with a side trip into Oregon). Here are some of my favorite bench-marky pictures.

While in Oregon, we crossed this very interesting bridge. I thought it looked like a good place for a benchmark so I peered at the bridge as my husband sped through. Sure enough! Saw one, stopped, and went on to find three benchmarks on that bridge! (The side trip to Oregon was a fluke, so I hadn't downloaded any Oregon benchmarks - but I got some anyway!) OA0833

Here's my favorite from my unsuccessful search for High Bluff 1871 LV1079. I call it "View from the disk that isn't LV1079." :(

RD 2153

Elevation 4,056'

This picture was taken with a bit of acrobatics. To begin with, just a foot from the benchmark is a 500' dropoff, so there is a chainlink fence about a foot before the benchmark. Both pictures were taken through the chainlink fence. I dangled my camera over the top of the fence, stuck my hands through the chain link (lucky I have small hands).

Awesome! I've had my eye on RIVIERA for the next time I got into town, but probably would've not gotten up the nerve to ask - did they ask you if you were crazy?! :D

PS - I was walking into that place once & held the door open for Elvis! Seriously. Sure looked like him!

---it took me three years to get permission to get up to the roof and about a thousand emails.. and even then I almost didn't find them...

Here are a couple that I recovered earlier this week...

RL0621: If you're interested in seeing a great example of how different seasons can completely change the appearance of an area, take a look at the "Location" photo posted in Z15's log for this station. the distance to the station is different, but the direction of the photo is almost identical.

...so is that the border fence in the foreground?

In the foreground is a vehicle barricade to prevent access to the road on the US side. The actual border is within a few feet of the border monument in the "yellow circle". The transmission towers are in Mexico serving the city of Tecate.
