The Klever Boys Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 If you pop over to the UK forum, I've posted a couple of pictures of Wendy and Caesar doing the deed http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=190098 They both did really well, especially considering the rumpus that was going on around them at the time! +Cheesy pigs Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Excellent stuff! Congrats on your torch run Wendy, I've got two coins to prove it too Quote
NeoAddict Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Congrats! I had heard of a person in a chair wheeling the torch in UK, but never knew it was a cacher! You didn't get shuffled onto a bus or anything, did you? I think that was in France anyway. Quote
Geo.Error Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Bump Please tell us about caring the turch, was everything allright Quote
Dorsetgal & GeoDog Posted April 9, 2008 Author Posted April 9, 2008 Hi Folks, Many thanks for your good wishes and concerns. We are fine but have been trying to rest up a bit after the rigour of the weekend. We didn't get to run the leg of the relay that was planned behind St Pauls Cathedral along Cannon Street to the Mansion House because there were too many protestors in the vicinity. We did see some scuffles along the way, and along Fleet Street there we pro Tibet and pro China protestors. This led to the torch relay being temporarily halted while safe passage for the torch and torchbearers was planned. As a result the torch travelled on a bus for the section we were due to run and then further on up the road, maybe half a mile or so, the relay on foot was recommenced. This meant that Caesar and I were running a section of London Bridge, an area where the torch was originally planned to be on a bus so no protestors there ... in fact not many people at all, as all our friends and relatives were left in the melee at St Pauls! Caesar coped with it all like it was a walk in the park, and even slept while on the Torchbearers bus! Here's one of the pictures from the day. Quote
fairyhoney Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Thank you for sharing your picture . It's a shame about All the protesting going on about where the Olympics are being held ( I know there is more about it but Don't dare go into it here ) Quote

Dorsetgal & GeoDog Posted April 17, 2008 Author Posted April 17, 2008 Well, I have spent quite some time today learning how to use a piece of video editing software and can now share some news footage of the day with you, it shows us carrying the torch, I have uploaded it to my blog. Here's another photo from the day before when we were just trying the torch out for size, getting our uniforms etc. My torch arrived by courier today, it had to be deactivated (the propane cylinder removed) for safety. Oh and just in case anyone missed out, YES, I do still have some coins left marking the event Quote
fairyhoney Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 "Peninsula Square, Greenwich" WOW! Where time begins Quote
