+patsu Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 I picked up a TB at a cache and entered the #'s on the tracable items page and it came up with not in the system. I have placed it in another cache. What do I do now? Quote
+JeepinOregon Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 (edited) If the numbers aren't working, there's not much you can do but post a note online for the cache in which you dropped the bug. You may find out some kind of info in the cache-logs from where you grabbed the bug...? Edited January 12, 2008 by JeepinCalifornia Quote

+Speeding Element Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 This is weird. I wonder how often this happens and people don't think to speak up and say anything. I hope it all turns out in the end. Quote

+Eartha Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Did you use the number from the page, or the number from the metal tag? You can only log movement on a TB using the number on the metal tag. The number on the TB page is for referencing the TB without giving away the tracking number. Quote
+Mach2003 Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Email the TB owner, ask them to confirm the code, they should have it listed on the BUG listing page. Quote
+patsu Posted January 13, 2008 Author Posted January 13, 2008 Email the TB owner, ask them to confirm the code, they should have it listed on the BUG listing page. All is well. Thanks for the help Quote
+bigryry Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 I have the same problem. I tried to log it and the ID is not valid. It has a memo on the Travel bug page to use a certain ID. I copied and pasted off the page and I emailed the owner and he sent me two ID's neither of them worked. Other people have logged it I don't understand Why I can not. I found it from- Suny geneseo cache, in NY. I am thinking of just dropping it another cache but I will try here first for suggestions... This is what the cache owner emailed me.. Try one of these numbers: TB1HVWR or CHM887. One of these should work. The TB1hvwr is posted on the TB's log Quote

Does the number the owner gave you match what's on the tag? Quote
+bigryry Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Ther is no ID on the bug there are no printed or stamped numbers on this Quote
+BlueDeuce Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 (edited) (Just looked a little closer at TB1HVWR) Is this thing a bug or a coin? What's it look like? Edited January 14, 2008 by BlueDeuce Quote
+bigryry Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 It says it is a traveling geocoin that it identical to a travelbug (looks like a military dog tag) Either way it wont let me log it in. I have logged in geocoins with no problems. This is the first time I have had an issue Quote
+BlueDeuce Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 okay, odd there's no tracking number printed on it. I guess go back to the owner and have him double check the numbers he gave you. Quote
+bigryry Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 I sent him an email again. I just want to log this but there is no tracking number printed or stamped on this. I checked even the thin outer edge. I have seen little cards attached with information but not with this. Quote

Did it look like one of these, by any chance? Coins Quote
+bigryry Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 No it did not look like one of those.... http://shop.geoswag.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/tbitems.html It is off this page at the very bottom left... Like i said it looks like a travel bug but it is called a geocoin buddy, which is the same as the travel bug buddy.. Quote
+bigryry Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 (edited) As far as the owner if you are looking at a cache it tells you the inventory of the cache and you click on what ever item you have taken (travelbug, geocoin) and it took me to the travel bug page where it tells you who the owner is and then you click ont he owner's info where you can email the owner off their geocache profile! there is anothe way to but to long to type Just like I can tell you you own vegas babes #1 and it is in the collins cache and no one has taken it yet! +bigryry Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 OK i think i have it fiqured out, I think this was with the geocoin and this is basically the "goal sheet" Someone took the coin and left this Geocoin buddy thinking it was a travel bug like i did.... It has been a rough week......It was in it's own plastic bag so I assumed it was a travel bug and now i found out i am an idiot....ok never mind!!!! Thank you for replies.... Quote
+BlueDeuce Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Now you have yourself I nice little buddy tag! Happy Caching. Quote

Not really important at this point... Quote
