Q: Where did signal come from?

A: Signal is the official mascot for Groundspeak. Simply put, he represents the combination of the outdoors and location-based technology. Signal's ultimate goal is to put the word "active" back into "interactive" by releasing you from the shackles of your indoor "entertainment system." We call him "El Capitan" or "The Liberator" in the office.

Clinton

Actually, that would be Reagan.

"In 1983, after Soviet interceptor aircraft shot down the civilian airliner KAL 007 in restricted Soviet airspace, killing all 269 people on board, U.S. President Ronald Reagan announced that the GPS system would be made available for civilian uses once it was completed."
