+Too Tall John Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 These directions are for planning purposes only. You may find that construction projects, traffic, or other events may cause road conditions to differ from the map results. Quote
+egami Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Guys, hey...look at the bright side, now maybe we'll get a cool sticker on our GPS's we buy that has one of those stick dudes getting run over by a train with a big red circle and slash through it... Quote
+uxorious Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 He jumped out and tried to warn the engineer by waving. And just what did he expect the engineer to do, turn out of the way? Or stop a moving train? If the engineer was close enough to see him, he was too close to stop. Quote
+Too Tall John Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Guys, hey...look at the bright side, now maybe we'll get a cool sticker on our GPS's we buy that has one of those stick dudes getting run over by a train with a big red circle and slash through it...Just did a google image search for "train warning sign." Best I could find was: There were some other signs that cachers probably want to heed, too: I've heard this one is posted at Groundspeak HQ: For those who cache in/near water: ...And for those who cache after they've been in the water: A few just made me wonder: ...Such a wide variety of signs, and not one of a car being crushed by a train?!? Oh well... Quote
+egami Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 lol, great signs...like the sea-monster one. Quote
+The Jester Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 It reminds me of the story a few years back, about the guy (in Germany??) that drove off the ferry dock becasue his GPS told him too. Quote
+egami Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 If your friends jumped of a bridge would you do it? No, but if my GPS told me to I would... Quote
+mommio Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 ALWAYS TRUST YOUR GPS. NOT! A local cacher who has a very expensive GPS unit that he is MIGHTY proud of related in one of my cache logs that he followed "Jill's" (GPS voice name) directions down a caliche county road instead of returning the way he had come to a paved road a mile away. He ended up 85 miles south of where he wanted to be. At the price of gas today, Jill cost him more than I am sure he wanted to pay for one cache. Quote
+ZSandmann Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 He was so close to winning the Darwin Awards, darn his bad luck. Quote
+joranda Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 What happened to the days of looking left then right? Quote
+egami Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 What I want to know is why the heck wasn't the train showing on the GPS?! I mean, DUH! Quote
+DanOCan Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Man, you have to be pretty stupid to drive somewhere just because a GPS told you to do so...right? Quote
+Shop99er Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 What happened to the days of looking left then right? And as we all know, trains are cat-like in their stealth and silence. geeze...how do you not notice a train? Quote
+brodiebunch Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Was the train one of the moveable caches from long ago. Quote
+2qwerqE Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 A recent stop on the way to a cache: Yes, that's me behind the wheel. Quote
tdx Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 OK, who's hiding caches in the railroad ties again? Quote
2oldfarts (the rockhounders) Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Perhaps he can sue someone for not having this sign in place. John Quote
