+BSA534
I got some new TBs for Christmas and I finally got around to activating one today (New Year's Day) and the site says "The activation code does not match for this travel bug." I double & triple checked the label and the bug and everything appears to match. So I tried a different TB and got the same response. Any ideas? Tim BSA534 Conway, Arkansas Quote Link to comment
+bugsmasher69
The first thing to check is to make sure you are not mixing up the letter Oh for the number zero, the letter Zee for the number two and so on. OH and you didn't get the travel bugs and the activation codes mixed up while looking at them did you? Quote Link to comment
+BlueDeuce
I have seen where the provided activation code isn't the current one. Try WORLD, CACHER, SEATTLE, VEGAS, SIGNAL or WINOT. Otherwise you'll need to send an email to contact@geocaching.com. Include the tracking number. Quote Link to comment

So people don't randomly type in numbers to activate something still on the shelves? Quote Link to comment

SlytherinAlex
I sell a LOT of Travel Bug tags. Bugs with the wrong activation code is a big problem. I spoke to Groundspeak about it and they thought it was only a problem with the VEGAS tags. But that does not seem to be the case. Since they went off having a different code for each tag set I really don't see the point of having an unlock code at all. Everyone pretty much knows the codes used. One thing they could do in the short term until the bad tags work through the system is to make activation work as long as you put any one of the codes in. That can't be a hard programming job and it will save a lot of people the frustration of not being able to activate their bugs first time. And save me a lot of email from customers who can't get their tags activated. a. Quote Link to comment
+q22q17
Yes, I have had trouble with the WORLD and SEATTLE activation codes. If I interchange those, then it usually works. I have also had one instance where the actual tag and the copy tag were different "numbers" and the package label was different. I think they need to cycle through the current inventory to place another order before all of this will subside. Personally, and this is my own opinion, I liked the number only tags much better than these combo number/alpha tags. Some of the "new" tags have very rough edges. Quote Link to comment
