+CaKid
Any comments regarding this unit? Are all the hints downloaded? Accurancy? Thanks. Quote Link to comment
+hamelenser
The display is one of the best I've ever seen. Although it's full colour it's clearly readable even with backlight turned off when at night a street light is the only light there is. From the Garmin FAQ: Waypoints names can be up to fourteen characters long. Comments can be up to 30 characters. It may look like there's more space availble for waypoint comments in the window, but 30 is the most stored. So you can't just upload a full featured Groundspeak GPX file to your 60CSx. You can manually edit the comment field though and fill in the hint. Accuracy is very good (below 6m in most cases) and receiver sensitivity is exceptional. However, when approaching a waypoint by foot the measured distance seems to lag a bit behind. When you're getting closer than 10m it's a good idea to hold on for a moment and let it settle. Otherwise you run past it and the display suddenly jumps from 10m ahead to 10m behind. Quote Link to comment
+Miragee
Friends of mine have that unit and like it very much. I prefer the smaller Vista HCx which also has expandable memory and a High Sensitivity chip. Download useful waypoint names and the Hints can be done easily with the Smart Name codes in GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife). Quote Link to comment
+myotis
For hints, it is best to use Custom POI as they hold much more than a waypoint. Quote Link to comment
+hamelenser
Sounds interesting. How much text can you put in a custom POI? Quote Link to comment
+ProsperoDK
Sounds interesting. How much text can you put in a custom POI? 44 characters in the name and 88 characters in the desription. /René Quote Link to comment
Burtonridr
I think it is a great unit, I have had mine for about 1-1/2 years and it rocks! If you are going to use it on a motorcycle I would recommend mounting it in the center of the handle bars though, the mount is weak and vulnerable on the ends. Quote Link to comment
