Might be the ribbon cable for the display has come loose. Have you contacted Garmin for a repair?

No. What does the repair process involve?

Try giving them a free call:

Phone: 1-800-800-1020

I just read a resent post where someone got an out of warranty unit exchanged for $40.00

If you don't want to hassle with Garmin I will take all you listed and the broken unit, everything for $20.

I have been looking for a broken unit to experiment with designing something.

That may well be me! :)

My Legend was doing funky screen things (a known problem with a loose display connector), the rubber band around the housing was loose on the right side (another known problem) and from time to time it would get a vertical black line through the center and shut down (another known problem with WAAS and the software). My display would still work with a WHACK of the right side to my palm.

There is a fix to be found for DIYselfers . . . . here's one link:

Shockproof your Garmin

But otherwise, Garmin did take pretty good care of me by sending a refurbed unit in exchange for mine and $40. Not sure if I've got a backup or a Garage Sale item . . . :)
