+Insp Gadget
I love Easter Eggs, those special little hidden things that manufacturers hide. For example, if you hold the Avg Speed down for several seconds on the Streetpilot C330 it will bring up the diagnostics page. Does anyone know of any other hidden pages or commands on GPS units?? +trevor.manternach
Holding in+power on the Magellan Explorist 210 (I've only tested it on the 210, it probably works on others as well) will enter the diagnostics mode. It does a display and keypad test, along with some other weird ones. Useless, but cool nonetheless. Quote Link to comment
Lknot
Hold your finger in the middle of the trip screen in a Nuvi650 and you'll get this and other stats Quote Link to comment
+Sputnik 57
Dale DePriest has a long page of secret keystrokes for Garmin units here. Dale's pages have lots of good GPS info. Naturally, use at your own risk. Quote Link to comment

+trainlove
On many Garmins. Hold Enter while Turning the unit On. Goes into self test mode. On Magellan Meridian series, Menu, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right will do that but you MUST know what 2 digit to use. Don't do anything other than 00-03 without reading up on it in the Yahoo user group for Magellan Meridians. Quote Link to comment
+hukilaulau
If you turn the new Triton backwards and press "goto" the message on the screen is "Paul's dead, miss 'im, miss 'im, miss 'im." Only works on the 1500. Quote Link to comment

+Sputnik 57
In an effort to get this thread back on track: When projecting a waypoint on a Garmin 60/76/Legend Cx unit (MARK->MENU->Project Waypoint), it assumes that you want to project your distance in miles. But if you cursor over to the little 'mi' in the lower right corner and hit ENTR. A hidden menu pops up right there and lets you change the projection units to mi, ft, yd, km, m, nm. From there, you can select miles, feet, yards, kilometers, meters or nautical miles. Edit: An old thread on Garmin tips and tricks can be found here. +julianh
When you hold a Garmin eTrex Vista up to your ear, you can hear the sea - even when you are hundreds of kilometres inland! (Also works on basic yellow eTrex; believed to work on all eTrex models; have not yet had the chance to try it on the newer high-sensitivity / colour screen models.) Quote Link to comment

That should really come in handy for geocaches that require you to project waypoints, such as GCB83A. Quote Link to comment
+admo1972
In Google Earth hold down [Command+Option+A on a Mac] or [Alt+Control+A on a PC] to open up a hidden flight simulator. Now you can fly cache to cache in an F-16! Quote Link to comment
