+surteb
UPS brought the package at 9:58 a.m. Xander - and Mom and Dad - were all blissfully asleep when the doorbell woke them up. Chris rubbed his eyes, accepted the package and went to get Cherie. They opened the package together and were wonderfully surprised by the beautiful coins! Then Xander cried and reminded them he was wet and hungry, so Chris decided to change Xander's diaper. Xander surprised Daddy with his amazing spraying talents (he is, after all, a baby boy ). So, Chris called you after wiping up Xander, the changing pad, the changing table, the carpet and his hands, changing the diaper, onesie and pajamas. He also took a five minute breather after that adventure and treated himself to a cup of coffee. THEN, he called you. Edited December 4, 2007 by surteb Quote Link to comment

+fox-and-the-hound
We just wanted to thank everyone involved in this wonderful surprise! Surteb has pretty much got the story down, too! We're still marveling now over this coin and how appropriate the symbolism is for us both. After almost 18 years together and 10 of it married, we had really thought we were sure in our decision to not go the childhood route. We had been over the pros and cons hundreds of times, but just didn't think it was the choice for us. Last year we realized after talking to the doctors that it was getting down to the now-or-never point of having children as we are now in the high-risk "advanced maternal age" category. We still weren't sure so we said what the heck, if it happens it happens, we'll leave it up to fate. I think that was on Sunday afternoon. 6am on Wednesday, Cherie calls out "I hope your sitting down..." The Tulips depicted in the coin were especially poignant because I'd just given an anniversary gift to Cher with Tulips on it and the words "I'm Ready". The Tulip is a symbol of new birth, change, and the renewing cycle of life so it brought tears to our eyes to see this coin this morning and this symbol that has come to mean so much to use graven in the design. Thank you Frozen Buns for all the reasons you know like only a mother can. Thank you Paula and Jim for the amazing design and production effort (not to mention tight deadline and turnaround ) and of course CastleMan for the use of the prefix. The prefix is especially nice because we've always taken pride in our identical initials and it's just another amazing part of generosity displayed in this whole effort. Thank you to anyone else who was involved (if I still don't know everything) and thank you to the community for sharing your stories, advice and friendship in this most amazing turning point in our lives! You're the best - Chris, Cherie and Alexander Mackey Edited December 4, 2007 by fox-and-the-hound Quote Link to comment

Where is the mother whose house is so shocking? She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking. Oh, I’ve grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue (Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo). Dishes are waiting and bills are past due (Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo). The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo. Look! Aren’t her eyes the most wonderful hue? (Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo). The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow, For children grow up, as I’ve learned to my sorrow. So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep. I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep. Paula found it on a quilt delivered by fedex 11:00 am Quote Link to comment
