McDragons Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Please take a look at this article published in the Des Moines register yesterday. It sounds just like a geocache but it doesn't have any identification and I cannot find it on geocaching.com. Isn't this an awesome container? Fluke Quote
scuba dude Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Wow, that looks like a great cache. There is a user "seamus" on GC, but doesn't have any cache finds listed in DesMoines. I'm at a loss for a reason other than caching. SD Quote
Team Four A's Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Could it be a TerraCache? Could it be a Letterbox? Cool Spot! Quote
StarBrand Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 I'm thinking that might be a letterbox. Nice work!! Quote
bittersweetinsanity Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 I'm thinking that might be a letterbox. Nice work!! I think it is! I did some searching real quick since I was curious. Quote
huskerrich2000 Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 can't be the same if I get the locations right Grays Lake is east of Waterworks park just south of downtown des moines. Walnut Woods State Park is along the Racoon River south of West Des Moines Quote
huskerrich2000 Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Was discussed at atlasquest.com. This could be a fairy door take a look at this link in our own database, Someone get a waypoint http://www.Waymarking.com/cat/details.aspx...7e0f5&gid=6 Quote
welch Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 can't be the same if I get the locations right Grays Lake is east of Waterworks park just south of downtown des moines. Walnut Woods State Park is along the Racoon River south of West Des Moines I agree, while both Walnut woods and Gray's Lake are south of the Raccon, the two areas are like 5 miles apart. It would seem very weird for that letterbox to direct you to start at one and when the 'box' is in the other. I looked up the area at Terracache and Navicache a few days back, nothing in the immediate areas of grays lake. Quote
Parabola Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Man, I was just working at the Iowa Events center eariler in the week. If I would have seen this I would have gone and looked for it. I was staying just down the street from Grays lake too. I want to know what it is. That picture is so neat. I haven't been able to find it on a website yet so I'm no help on "what is it". Quote
egami Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I could swing by after work and locate this maybe... Quote
egami Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 Here is our story. I'll go back at some point and get a sample of all the letters that are in there. Quote
welch Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Here is our story. I'll go back at some point and get a sample of all the letters that are in there. Too bad theres not a stash note of some sort in there to explain what this thing is Quote
egami Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 After I replied here I decided to post a thread in the Geocaching Topics forum. Someone pointed out there that Seamus O'Grey is an anagram for "your message". Also, I mention in that thread that there is a Waymarking group for these and there are some similar doors around, apparently. The theme seems to be, based on the anagram and the contents, that if you leave Seamus a note he'll write back. Here is the main forum thread: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=181528 Quote
