xxgg Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Hello. My Garmin 60CSx I was just wondering if there is a way to upload maps without connecting a USB cable? But using a memory card and sending map directly to the microSD? If so, which software do you recommend? I did try IMG2GPS but with that app. I need to know which file is which map. So it is hard to know which is which since it doesn't show any map name. Plus... this app is somewhat unstable/unresponsive. The reason I am asking is because transfering via GPS unit is slow due to USB 1.1 interface. I was hoping to send directly to memor card using USB 2.0 transfer speed. Thank you! Quote
Frabble Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Just use a USB 2.0 card reader/writer that will take microSD cards. You can use MapSource to transfer the maps, simply load or create a map selection, click Send to Device, select the removable disk that your card should show as and click Send. Quote

That's what I do for my 76Csx and it works like a champ! Quote
xxgg Posted November 29, 2007 Author Posted November 29, 2007 Oh dadgum... I have actually never thought of trying that. I just thought that GPS unit itself had to be connected. dadgum... Thank you! Quote

What keeps you from taking that card from GPSr "A" that's unlocked, and sticking it in GPSr "B" that's not unlocked? </dumb question> Quote

If you place the card in a GPS that has not been unlock in YOUR copy of Mapsource, the maps won't show up. Quote

Others have provided good answers, but I do have a page up with screenshots that may help associate tiles with filenames for the more stubborn or masochistic among us. :-) Quote
