I'm in the CA High Desert and there's a lot of empty land and vacant lots out here. I was wondering how do I find out who to ask about placing a cache on the property?

In most places the county can tell you who owns what parcels and most counties in most states seem to be online these days and searchable from the comfort of home. Are they addressed lots or no?

Around here a quick visit to the county planning office can tell you who owns what.

 

There is a lot of BLM land out your way. As long as you avoid designated "wildreness" areas - the BLM is quite caching friendly.
