+Parzival Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 (edited) I have so many on my list but I really really want to get out and do this one Annie Creek Railroad Cache What geocache or caches are you just really wanting to do? knowschad Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 (edited) I have so many on my list but I really really want to get out and do this one Annie Creek Railroad Cache I see that I still proudly hold the most recent DNF on that one. Yeah, its an awesome cache in the Black Hills. A couple of miles of mildly offroad driving (I managed to make it fine in my Rav4) followed by a couple of miles of hiking up the gradual incline of the old narrow gauge railroad. There are two ravines that you have to cross... the trestles are now just a pile of rubble at the bottom. If I had one complaint on the cache, it would be that a cache that takes so much effort to get to probably shouldn't be that hard to find. But I think a big part of the problem wasn't the hide itself but more the signal reflection from the rock cliff the cache is hidden near. Edited November 20, 2007 by knowschad Quote

My personal opinion, I think that the annie creek railroad geocache is what geocaching is all about. Outdoors adventure with some history involved. I look at the pictures people have taken there and it makes me want to pack my things right now and head out there today. Unfortunately, I dont think my wife would come along. The Depot The Depot is my favorite of the 1300+ caches I've done. Not difficult at all, but then magic usually isn't. Here's the one I want to do. Maybe I'll try it for #1500 or something. No magic involved. Just overcoming (for me anyway) sheer terror! Edited November 20, 2007 by hukilaulau Quote

There are many in the Black Hills that I'd say would fit that description. They put out some awesome caches in that area. Every one I found was also maintained very well. I'm looking forward to getting back there next summer for some more! As for Annie Creek, looking at some spoilers in the gallery shows me that I finally had the correct GZ right at the very end, when I decided to call it quits! Quote

+Kit Fox Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 (edited) I have one cache that trumps all others. It requires a 40 miles hike in the Grand Canyon. Anasazi Ruins Edited November 20, 2007 by Kit Fox Quote
+briansnat Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 French Peak (apparently it's still there). Quote
+9Key Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Not much locally is interesting , but I would like to make a trip out east to attempt a couple of Vinny's Psycho series one day. Quote
+Ambrosia Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 For years, it was Ebey Bluffs. I finally got to do it. Now, I don't really have one that stands out over any other, and that works for me. I try not to make any plans for the future. I have a Must Do bookmark where I keep popping in caches that I'd like to do sometime. It's pretty loose, and I'm sure there are a few caches I'd really like to do that I just haven't added in there. I'll do that when I think of it. Quote
+egami Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 French Peak (apparently it's still there). Wow, I climbed French Peak with some buddies back in high school. This is an all day event for the best of outdoorsmen. You will not be disappointed. Quote

CurmudgeonlyGal Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 French Peak (apparently it's still there). Poo! I clicked on it thinking there was another French Peak somewhere in the US (you know, out in your neck of the woods.) Bah! Brutal. michelle Quote
+9Key Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Shackleton's Rest (GCZ8ZK) It's all about the journey. I have that one on my watch list too. Getting there would be a real beating though. Quote
JASTA 11 Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Sometime soon I'd like to go after Ed Watson was a Bad Man using just canoes, no motors. I'm having a hard time convincing somebody to attempt it with me. Quote
+Jeep_Dog Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I had not considered this possibility, but I would much rather die doing the geocache than a geocache I am dying to do. Death by geocaching. Hmmmm.... there's worse ways to go. Quote
+GIDEON-X Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 The one that I've been putting off for a couple of years is really not that far out of the way on my runs to San Diego........But Oh Next time seems to be the answer.... Oldie One of these days... Quote
+The Leprechauns Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I don't have but four or five caches on my watchlist, because they don't fit anywhere else. Everything else is on a bookmark list. One bookmark list is the "caches I want to do" list. From that list of 20, and ignoring the cache I'll be hunting tomorrow for my 3000th find milestone, the one cache I'm most dying to do is Scripture Rocks 1. Imagine a spot way up in the hills where, 100 years ago, a rather zealous guy with a chisel carved thousands of lines of bible verse into the rocks. That is something I just have to see. Quote
+the hermit crabs Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 I've wanted to go to Edisons Dark Rock Cache ever since one of our first TBs landed there more than three years ago. Quote

That is something I just have to see. quite an adventure. listed parking is very, very tight but getting there is easy enough. The carvings are on just about every rock in the place. Take plenty of pictures for us Pioneers Petroglyph is 1 of 3 on my "short" list. My to do list is a private bookmark Quote
