+TexasGringo Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Hi: When filling out the form for a new cache...The first time I save the information, I sometimes forget to uncheck the "Yes, This Cache Is Currently Active" box. I'm sure that the very moment I click the mouse button, Bells and Whsitles start sounding at the Geocaching Reviewers Headquaters. I can see them running from all areas of the building to man the reviewer stations with their hand on the ole-mighty rule book...only to find out the cache has not been totally completed. False Alarm...Stand Down... Because of Fast Mouse Clicking Goof-Balls like me (no contest there)...I think that that box should default to BLANK (Unchecked)...and allow me to check it later on. Just a Thought (Wow a First) Guru4Hire
CoyoteRed Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 (edited) I suspect the reason it is checked by default is so they can head off complaints from users that their caches have gone two months without being reviewed when the problem was they didn't check the box letting Groundspeak know that it is ready. Yes, I know it says as much on the cache page, but it also says other things at the same time and they look similar. Of course, the programing could be changed to really highlight this fact... NOT READY FOR REVIEW!!! Your cache must be enabled before it is reviewed. ...pasted across the page above the title might give them a clue. The underlined "enabled" could be a link to enable the cache. I doubt it's that much of an issue for anything to change though. Edited November 18, 2007 by CoyoteRed
+TexasGringo Posted November 18, 2007 Author Posted November 18, 2007 Yep...a small issue indeed...but just a thought. The only way I find out is when I get the Email saying that my cache was submitted for review...then I say "#$@^&" and quickly go back to uncheck that box. I'll just have to remember next time. Or...put the Check Box down at the bottom where you check the other 2 boxes that say you read and understand. Then I can easily see it and uncheck it...instead of having to scroll back up. Thanks.
+Markwell Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I believe that even if your cache WAS labelled "currently not active" that you would still get the email saying that my cache was submitted for review.
Neos2 Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I believe that even if your cache WAS labelled "currently not active" that you would still get the email saying that my cache was submitted for review. Yep, that's true. I always type my pages out with "not active" selected. I get a note saying they were sent for review and I panick every time and have to go check to make sure I didn't accidentally leave the check there saying they were ready to go (even thought I know it does this). It's such a relief to see the message on the top of the page that it hasn't been sent for review yet and won't be until I uncheck the box!
+alexrudd Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 I think the default is much better left as is, for the majority of cachers who don't create listings before placing the cache. Perhaps someone could make a GM script to uncheck the box for you.
