mdhowlett
Are there geocachers in India? Tamil Nadu? Chennai? Give a shout out...maybe we can organize an event! I am currently in India (19d 01.494N and 073d 02.204E) Mumbai on a long (3 week) business trip. I can only find One Geocache site within a 200+ mile area. I will try to visit that one - elephanta caves - but not sure I will get there. I was considering setting up additional geocaching sites here as I come here fairly frequently. This is my 6th trip in 4 years. I have been concerned about setting up a site as I am not native to the area and don't know the local laws perhaps as well as I should. Last time I was here I went to Matheran and would like to do so again and put a site there, but again, not sure the legality of it. Quote Link to comment
archiplanner
Hi, I am Archi from Ahmedabad, western part of India. I would like to be a part of the geocaching community. I have pretty good map collection for the city with accurate details. I have good handheld Garmin GPS and PDA+GPS phone and iPaq with bluetooth GPS. I want to create cache's for Ahmedabad. Any clues how to start on? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Archi Quote Link to comment

+ChayBeeTee
Greetings India Cachers, I live in New York City but, since discovering geocaching, can't conceive of traveling without finding at least a cache or two in any destination. I'll be in India the last two weeks in April (Delhi, Agra, and Uttaranchal, around Mussoorie), and would love to meet other cachers or get some leads on caches near the places I'll be visiting. A search for those in India doesn't map them all, so I need to go through the list (44 India caches in all, it seems) and see what's where. Such a large country--so few caches! Please feel free to contact me directly. All the best, ChayBeeTee Quote Link to comment
madwyrm
Hey ChayBeeTee, I'm sure you'll be able to find at least a couple of caches while you're in India. I know there are at least two caches in Delhi.. The cache at the Taj is pretty tricky due to the recent security measures.. ( they don't allow you to take the GPS inside), I think there is a cache in / around Mussoorie as well.. I just started Geocaching too, and since there aren't too many caches to find, I'm keeping myself busy setting up new caches.. Hope you have fun! Let me know if you need help. Cheers! +Team Professor X
Hi all, I wonder if there are any geocachers in New Delhi on sunday may 10th 2009. If so, I would love to join forces and try to succesfully log the 4 caches that are out there. Should you be around that day, please drop me a note. Best regards, Aart-Jan (Team Professor X) Quote Link to comment
+The Lost Geeks
Are there any Geocachers in Hyderabad? I see there are caches in Deli and in Agra but they are quite some distance. I figured being in IT City there must be people who would be interested in geocaching. I have been debating to take a flight up to Deli to get some of the caches! I will be here until July 3/09 so if anyone is in the area and interested in heading north to grab some caches drop me a note!! The Lost Geeks Quote Link to comment

I did place a waymark at the Ista hotel but no one has logged it. There is a reporter looking to interview Geocachers in India, would anyone be interested in talking to them? If so drop me an email and I will forward along the contact information. Cheers, Brian brian (dot) shaw (at) gmail (dot) com Quote Link to comment

skw
I will be visiting Bangalore and (for a weekend) Tamil Nadu soon. (Feb 26-March 7) I would be interested in meeting other Geocachers. I hope to place caches near Athoor Village and near Kannivadi. I need to talk to the property owners first before I share my ideas. Quote Link to comment

Baloneks
Hello! A New Yorker, I'm currently in Allahabad, where I'll be for the next few years, and where the closest cache is hundreds of miles away....for now. Expect a few new ones in Allahabad to pop up in the next few months!! :-) If anyone is coming for the Maha Kumb Mela this December/January, there'll DEFinitely be some up by then (but far from the mela site as there's NO way that a geocacher would go unseen!). [well, maybe a difficulty 5 due to muggles...?] Quote Link to comment
Baloneks
Actually, if any of y'all ARE planning on heading to Allahabad for the Kumbh Mela this year, post something about it here...maybe there'll actually be a group of us for - gasp - a geocache event in UP?? :-) Quote Link to comment
Baloneks
So Allahabad's first Geocache IS PUBLISHED!!! :-) :-) And there is another one coming soon (once I can re-confirm the coordinates). The cache: "GC3TXH6: Haathi Park - Allahabad" is at http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GC3TXH6 Quote Link to comment
+Ladas112
Hello eveyone! I'm visiting India for the next October. I'm starting to planning the trip, and the geocaching tours! I've notice that there aren't many geocaches there. So, I need to know something: - is it possible for me to hide some geocaches in india? - I have a couple of friends living there, that can perform de maintenance -if so, should I contact any indian reviewer? - are there any laws or something that difficulties the hiding? What is your advice? This way, I could get one or two geocaches, increasing the Indian Geocaching activity!! Please, give you opinion! Thank you very much. L112 Quote Link to comment
