Vista Hcx Series Distance Question

I marked a waypoint a couple of days ago and yesterday I knew I was within the ballpark but wanted to know how far I was from yesterdays waypoint and the distance kept showing up as fractions of a mile.

Is there a way to set the unit up to display, yards or feet as you get close to the target spot or do I have to use calculator to know the distance in yards. Do you think the distance would be correct to within 5% (12 yds) if the distance was 250 yards?

Your assistance is appreciated.

I changed the units to yards but the screen I was using stayed the same. I was using the waypoint screen and just scrolling through the waypoints and reading the distance in the display at the bottom. It stays at miles.

However, if I use the Go To command then start navigation the compass page will give the distance down to ft as you get closer. The distance setting on the setup page is statute, any idea what that means? It probably takes liberty to change units as you get closer which is what I wanted but i'm just guessing.

"statute" refers to "statute miles" (as opposed to nautical miles).

The distance will show up in miles or fractions of a mile until you are closer than 0.1 mile; then it will switch to feet (or yards, if you've selected yards).
