ItsNotAboutTheNumbers website problem?

Is anyone aware of a problem with the ItsNotAboutTheNumbers webiste? When I load in the zip file of my PQ cache finds, it normally updates within a few minutes. Now, it says something like "your stats will be ready in 468 hours"! I have tried several times in the last few days, but it's not updating at all. The zip file is OK because I have used it successfully in Cachestats.

As Quiggle wrote, it's not a problem related to geocaching.com.

Contact them. I've done it a couple of times and their response was great. Pretty good for a FREE service.

I'm having the same problem, just to let you know that it's not just you!

Thanks for letting me know. I had noticed in the list of members that the last update from anyone was Oct 25th, so I knew it wasn't just me!

It looks like updates stopped sometime on October 29th. Twelve users uploaded their stats then.... nothing but wait in line. I'm waiting patiently as I am sure Cheesehead Dave will fix this as soon as he can.

Since this thread is not about "new features (or feature requests), bugs, etc. specific to the Geocaching.com site" I am moving it to the Geocaching topics forum. One less thread for OpinioNate and Raine to worry about.

I don't monitor the GC.com forums for INATN issues, so you're better off emailing me via the contact link on the site.

The problem is that the background task that processes your GPX uploads runs every two minutes. Turns out my hosting provider wasn't very happy about that and disabled the task. I see they just sent me an email informing me of the fact that their policy is that background tasks can only be scheduled to run every fifteen minutes.

I've re-enabled the task to run every fifteen minutes. Please be patient while the backlog slowly unclogs itself.

You wanna know the real reason that site is broken?

It's possessed.

Just look at this, from my listing: Total days since first find: 666 - Overall find Rate: 0.88/day, 6.18/week

Mommie. :D:D

I like to send them $20 every six months, or so.

I haven't tried this service but I just started using GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife) and believe it basically performs the same service. It's a free download and has a nag screen unless you "register" but the price isn't bad at all.

It works similar to this service in that you have to set up a pocket query to get all your finds (note you must use the "My Finds" link at the bottom as creating a custom pocket query has a limit on the number of caches (500) and the radius from a center point. If you have more than 500 caches or you have finds outside a 500 mile radius they will not appear in the results. In addition to the "MyFinds" query that geocaching.com gives me I have several other queries set up in areas which have a high density of caches outside my own town. For example, about 30 miles northeast of me there is a town with a lot of caches so I set one as a center point, then create a pocket query for all of the caches within 10-20 miles of that location. With GSAK I can create a separate "database" for each GPX file that I download. I can also use macros to create a Google Earth display of those caches, and a Mobi macro which creates a mobireader version that I can download to me Blackberry. The "mobi" file has complete cache listings, with hints and some logs, links to travel bug and coin pages, as well as several indicies (alphabetic, caches with TBs, cache by density, etc). Except for a printout of the google earth maps I've essentially gone paperless.

You have not looked at the site have you. They are totally different.

http://www.itsnotaboutthenumbers.com (abbreviated usually as INATN.)

When you go to the link above, type in my name in the bottom box to load in my stats. You can then look at all aspects of my finds, more than you can ever imagine. The details given are remarkable. The INATN site only give different displays based on your All Finds query. All it uses is that query alone.

Go to "Top 10" linked in the top menu bar. Select Georgia for the state. You can see how I rank against people who have uploaded their All Finds Query also. This site is "opt-in", so only those that have put their All Finds Query are shown (which means Premium Members who took the time to do it).

Click on my name on this post and go to my profile page. Look down at the very bottom. The site gives you HTML that you can put in your profile if you want to.

(Fixed URL, [DOH!] and clarified my quickly written post.)

Yup. While there are some number-crunching macros that you can get for GSAK as well, the big difference is that GSAK only knows about you. I have everybody's numbers, and can therefore do some interesting comparisons to show how you rank against others.

Edit: Oh, BTW... read the latest blog entry on INATN. I've put a relief valve back in to alleviate the backlog.

...

Do you have 'everybody', or do you have 'everybody who's uploaded a GPX to your site'? Edited by sbell111
