+Royalott
I have downloaded Cashemate and have been trying to make it work but not having a degree in computer science, I find it very confusing. I have been trying to use the instructions and the boxes that come up are not like the ones in the instructions. I don't even have a convert button. Is there a program. A program I can buy, that makes this as easy as it should be? I just want to take the files and put them on my Palm TX. I might be retired but I do not have the time to jump through all the hoops this thing is making me jump through. I want to be able to just download the files from geocache and load them on my Palm TX. There has to be a program out there that does that. I am not a computer guru and do not enjoy trying to figure this out. I want to geocache That is what I enjoy Please tell me there is a paid program out there that is made for the dummies. +admo1972
When you downloaded cachemate, there should have been a second program that came with it called CMConvert or something like that. This CMConvert program runs on your computer, and converts the loc or gpx files you get from geocaching.com into files that will work for cachemate. So, download a loc or gpx file. Open up cmconvert, and hot-synch the resulting file to your palm. Then, the next time you launch cachemate, it will automatically want to import the info, and you will have all your caches on it. Alternatively, you can download GSAK, which will open up the files from geocaching.com, adn allow you to export any number of them to a cachemate friendly file. GSAK has a lot of bells and whistles, and can be a little intimidating, so I would stick with the former method for now. Good luck! Quote Link to comment

If you are having difficulty with Cachemate I'd suggest that you take a look at the info on using GPX Spinner and Plucker as an alternative method of paperless caching. I like it much better than Cachemate since it gives me the exact cache page on my Palm that I see at the online cache page. Cybret has very good info on using this method at the Geocaching University site. Quote Link to comment

I own a Dell AXIM51 use GPxSonar on it. BUT, I download from GC.com using GSAK and then convert to a .gpx file format for the Dell and GPxSonar. I am not a computer specialist and just worked with it until it worked properly. The rewards of paperless caching are wonderful. PWCinPC Edited October 26, 2007 by pwcinpc Quote Link to comment
+MtnGoat50
I'm going to have to make an assumption. Cachemate is installed and working but you're having trouble getting the cache information loaded.(?) If that's the case then. Get GSAK here, and install it. Make sure you create a GSAK icon on your desktop. GSAK costs $25 but you can use it for quite awhile free, to see if you like it. Do a pocket query and save it to your desktop. Drag the PQ over to the GSAK icon. (no need to unzip it) From GSAK select File/Export/Cachemate PDB.. (it's the first choice on the list) The next time you do a hotsync, the PQ caches will be loaded into Cachemate. I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions. Quote Link to comment
