+islander1988 Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 This has been discussed a bit in the past. e.g. Would you ever take a wooden nickel/Path Tag/GeoTag in trade for a geocoin, etc.. And recently there have been posts about trading HTF geocoins for artwork or war memorabilia. So I'm just curious. How many of you only trade coins for coins and keep your interest/need for other things separate, and who would entertain a non-coin trade offer if the "price" was right? e.g. Would you consider trading a coin for a few ammo boxes, or a bunch of geocaching swag, or a set of geo-buttons? Obviously it would depend on whether the item was something you liked or could use, but I'm just curious whether people are open to non-coin offers if it's something of comparable value, and has anyone done this already? +dflye Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 (edited) I'll definitely trade coins for pins (with me on either end of the transaction), and have done that on an occasion or two, but haven't really looked into other items to get in exchange for a coin. Edit to add....geotags ARE geocoins as far as I'm concerned, somewhere on the evolutionary scale between micros and regular coins. Edited October 22, 2007 by dflye Quote
+Landsharkz Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 You must have been a fly on the wall... not 10 minutes ago I suggested to Chris that we could offer to trade some special geocoins for someone bilingual to help in our booth at the GeoRendezvous Mega in Quebec City . Quote
+avroair Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Depends, there are always other swag I would consider worth more in trade than a coin. Quote
+GBOTS Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 I would entertain almost anything as a trade (as long as it's "G" rated) I did, unfortunately, get badly burned on just such a trade not long ago.... Quote
+plumbrokeacres Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 I am working on a trade as we speak for some custom vinyl "Placed by" decals for a local cacher for a 2006 Evil Micro I've been trying to get a hold of. depends if the trade is worth it to both parties Quote
+tsunrisebey Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Ya, I'd definitely consider it and done it. Quote
+GPX Navigators Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Ya, I'd definitely consider it and done it. Ditto. Done it. Would do it again. Quote
YemonYime Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 I would gladly send you a geocoin tomorrow for a hamburger today. Quote
+~tasia~ Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 yes, i would trade a coin for something other than a coin... like cash or any of the other stuff you mentioned Quote

+Mauison Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 In the past, I've traded geocoins for sig items, geopins, Geotags, etc. and will do so in the future depending on the offer. Quote
+Nochipra Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Yeah we have traded with someone for items other than coins. We are open to trade anything that we are interested in. We just got our new wooden nickels in and I would trade those for coins anytime. Here is a pic. Quote
+ScoutingWV Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 I've done it. There are other things I collect as well and as long as each person feels good about the trade, why not? Quote
+rivercity Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 I have traded a geocoin for a geotag and would do it again. I'll trade wooden nickels for wooden nickels -- that seems fair! I don't mind some creative trading -- ammo cans, war memorabilia, etc. If the traders are satisfied, then it's a good trade. Quote
+wyohunter Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 My trades would be whatever the other person would consider. I would also consider other things for coins that I have. As long as we both feel it is fair. Quote
+UOTrackers Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 I would gladly send you a geocoin tomorrow for a hamburger today. How about for some pumpkin bread? I don't think my pumpkin butter would travel that far Quote

I'll help ((((((pengomommy)))))) Thanks!! I'll set aside our best and most special coins for you between now and next summer Quote
+islander1988 Posted October 23, 2007 Author Posted October 23, 2007 Edit to add....geotags ARE geocoins as far as I'm concerned, somewhere on the evolutionary scale between micros and regular coins. Lol. Yes, I agree (and I was one of the people arguing for it). Poor wording on my part; I should have specified in that case trades for regular sized coins (e.g. 1.5" or bigger). Quote
+earthrooster Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Being rather new to collecting, not to mention the forums, lol, I have yet to trade anything for a coin. I have to agree with everyone else; coins, tags, swag, ammo boxes- whatever. As long as both parties are satisfied, it's a good trade. -Jesse Quote
+Landsharkz Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 A friend in town makes awesome 'Ecofurniture' and wanted a small stamped metal tag with his logo on it to nail onto his finished products... He now has a box of beautiful custom tags and we have a new coffee table in the living room! Quote
