+The Lavender Hill Mob Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 I've come into the possesion of 60 35mm film containers! I need to get rid of them but don't want my area flooded with micro's! I have the following ideas but would welcome any other sensible suggestions: 1. I could hide a large cache filled with just a log book, pen and film containers and make it mandatory for anyone who finds the cache to take a container and place it within 8 weeks of finding the cache, if not the find will be unlogged. Problems with this. a. Someone could take all the containers in one hit! b. The admin of finding out if they have placed the micro would be high 2. I could post them out to the forum community, 5 at a time, on condition that the next time they see any charity box they make a donation. Problems with this a. Postage, packing and personal adresses b. I'd have to take the cachers word that they'll make the donation but I guess it's their conscience! 3. Sell them on ebay Problems with this a. It'll cost me more than I get (I'd have to break even....I don't want to lose money.....I'm not a charity, although my kids think I am ) Cheers TLHM Quote

+Dorsetgal & GeoDog Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 How about printing a little log sheet, placing that and a cut down pencil inside a small zip loc baggie, and leaving them in caches you find as swag? This will ensure a wider geographical spread, not give the opportunity for anyone to grab the lot in one go and be a nice find for someone else. I was given a couple of ready made caches similar to this when in the States that someone leaves as a signature item but am still pondering on where to place 'em! Quote

Iwuzere Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 I went to my local Boots photo counter (when no-one else was around!) and asked nicely if I could recycle any from their bin (which was clean!).. got a bag full of them! The translucent oval ones from APS films are better sealed than 35mm ones - though a bit smaller to squeeze a log into. HTH Quote

I did think of that but what's to stop someone going home, filling a bag full of rubbish and taking a photo........boy.............have you noticed that I have a terrible distrust of people ........even more so after getting mugged by two 12 year olds in Bucharest earlier this year! I did a pocket query of CITO events within 100km of me......none.......so perhaps we need one! Quote

I'm going to be doing that with the screw top micros I now use, and have lots of! That way, they get distributed around the country (assuming its a nationally attended event...!) Quote
