Sure, my pea-brain was thinking... what if the same location gets 6's in the ranking from all 4 voters on the first round.

That wasn't even close to happpening, we were all over the place and the point totals happen to be very, very close so far.

how about a slightly international venue like Halifax Nova Scotia Canada? Many geocoin fanatics here.

 

I Second the nomination for Halifax, Nova Scotia.

 

It has ample hotel accomodations in the downtown core, Several Locations where you can hold large events well over 500 people.

 

Halifax Nova Scotia is a Historic town and has enough historical & general interest venues to keep any geocacher busy for days on end (I've lived in Halifax for 7 years and there are still many things we've yet to experience). We have the Historic Properties on the waterfront which will bring you all along the Halifax Waterfront, where you will find a Casino(start of a multi), a Maritime Museum, a working Brewery (with tour and free beer), all the way to 'pier 21(several caches within walking distance)' where Canada's European immigrants mostly came through. further in you have the Halifax Citadel which is an active reenactment site (also the site of 3 caches).

 

The Halifax penisula itself has approximately 80 some caches on it all of which are walkable to,( I know, we did them all with a stroller). HRM which encompasses Halifax, Dartmouth, Bedford, and Sackville, to name a few, has something in the region of a few hundred caches within easy drive of any hotel accomodations.

 

Most Important, It is only a short drive from the First Canadian Geocache GCBBA. Getting to that cache brings you down Highway 333 which is a Cache Heavy highway, where a series, known as Easy Street, starts mere minutes from the city and continues for something in the order of 45 caches on the road, which takes about 2 hours to complete.

 

I'm a new Cachers so i can't even begin to tell you about all of the Cache wonders that HRM and Nova Scotia holds, but each time i turn around I find something new here to make me glad I'm a GeoCacher.

For those who have never been to the Burgh, it will be hard to understand that we have our own language and style of living here. Whether it be something as simple as hearing people talking about Yinz or learning a Pittsburgh left while driving (nielsenc still has issues with this). Regardless there is a way to see how much you have to learn about our city if you are making a trip here, and hopefully everyone will be encouraged to do so sometime next year. I actually went to each of the areas and took a peek at what caches were in each of the areas, but with the event being 11 months away it's not that great a consideration since there is plenty of time to place some caches. The caching landscape changes alot in 11 months. Thanks for the idea though.
