First GPS unit needed

Ok mates, i already checked the recent postings here and i will just

make an abstract to let you check, if i understood it right

The Garmin 60CSx seems to be amazingly accurate

Normally it is said that a unit hast 15 meters of accuracy

As i read the 60CSx has a usual 30 feet (10 meters)

Some report 4-9 meters under good conditions

Then there is the Foretrex wich has a nice option for being wrist wearable

Comparable accuracy, only less under a forest or inside rooms....

Etrex H

H for high accuracy. Probably the best accuracy? At least less expensive

than the 60CSx

Did i get that right?

What else is there to say?

Thank you

High-sensitivity reveivers such as the Etrex H series and the 60 X series are no more accurate that the units with standard recievers. However, they aquire satellites faster and hold a signal lock longer in difficult areas (i.e., under dense tree cover and inside some buildings).

As a owner of the 60cx. I agree that they hold the signal better in urban and forest areas.

OK so no more accuracy, but better reception under trees

and we have ALOT of caches under ALOT of trees here.

Thank you

That may be strictly accurate in that newer, high sensitivity GPSrs don't have any fancy new hardware or software that will magically result in a more accurate fix. However, in comparison to the less sensitive receivers, they are effectively more accurate simply because they can hold on to more satellites (and more satellites generally means a more precise fix), so under trees or other difficult conditions, you can still get a good accuracy reading with the new models where you might get poor accuracy or no reading at all with the older ones (that's the extreme of poor accuracy!).
