Pocket Queries by county

Is it possible to sort caches in the UK by county as they seem to have in the US, Canada and Australia?

Or do you sort them out is gsak after you have loaded them from a range of PQ's

Not at the minute but it may be under consideration. There is a very active thread on the Website Forum about this but it may die off now as Germany, Portugal and a few other countries got theirs.

 

I'm not sure if/when UK/Ireland will get this option but maybe someone brought it up with Jeremy at the London event?

Have just had a quick look at the link, there are two county lists - the earlier posting looks like the new(ish) counties the second is, I think, the 1888 list before they started messing about with the unitary authorities etc.in '92/4.

 

Personally I prefer the 1888 list, this was standardised for county hunting on the amateur radio WAB award program, and won't get varied in future whatever the whims of government are. It might up-set a few though 'cause I think the maps that show on peoples personal pages are from the later list.

 

Perhaps we should have an agreed list before it goes on the site?

Following the debate on the BIG Quest thread, I think Groundspeak will pick whatever is currently 'officially recognised' and go with it. I doubt very much we'll get to choose the list they use!

We're off to Lincolnshire soon and thought we would go through Rutland on the way for a new county - doe's any one have a book mark list for Rutland?

 

Otherwise we'll just search on Oakham.....

HAHAHAHA, after a long battle, we in South Africa have just managed to have our caches divided by provines (Counties)

 

Keep it up, and maybe you guys can hit it lucky too

 

The only challenge is to try and get all the caches updated once the counties have been added.

lucky we have a kind cacher here who is mailing the whole country to get them to do so!
