fraggle69 Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 I am flying out to Seattle on the 6th October for a week of training with work, leaving on the Friday afternoon/evening of 12th October. I am hoping to cache with any free time I may get, sadly I won't have the use of a car so will likely hire a push bike/use public transport . Are there any caches that I really should do while I am here? Is there anything I need to be aware of caching in the states compared to the UK? I am hoping to bring a selection of TB's/coins and maybe some jeeps with me, so if anyone wants to hook up that would be great. I am told I am going to be in the area of woodinville. Thanks for any advice given... Quote
+Prying Pandora Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Well, there is the big Pacific Northwest Trifecta, but you'll need a car. Groundspeak Headquarters (speaks for itself) Mission 9: Tunnel of Light (one of only two remaining A.P.E. caches, the other is in Brazil) ORIGINAL STASH TRIBUTE PLAQUE (think of it as a pilgrimage to Mecca) If you can contrive a way to get to any of them, you'll be the envy of your local caching community. +hydnsek Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 And here's our Northwest Classics bookmark list, made especially for visitors and new cachers. It contains the aforementioned trifecta and more. Quote
+LandRover Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 There is a small group hoping to make the trip up to Mission 9: Tunnel of Light on October 7th. But the plan is to ride the trail all the way to Rattlesnake Lake, a 21 mile long bike ride. See this thread. Quote

Thanks for any advice given... We drive on the other side of the road than you do...oh, and the Longitude is 120° to the west. Other than that, it's pretty much the same. If you're interested, I'll set up a "meet and greet" event for one evening while you're here at a local pub or pizza place...and/or I'll volunteer to drive you around to some local caches...there are actually quite a few good ones near where you are staying in Woodinville. +jcar Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 If you are going to be in the Woodinville area, here is one that I really enjoyed Squaring the Circle, that would require a little work ahead of time. If you have lots of bugs/coins that you want to trade you should proabably contact NBJPoppa, he always has lots on hand, and has a flexible schedule, but does not read the forums. Quote

fraggle69 Posted September 22, 2007 Author Posted September 22, 2007 Email has been sent to Al Sounds like a great idea organising a meet and greet. One thing is clear, I must find a way of doing the Project Ape cache. Mission 9: Tunnel of Light It sounds similar to the cache I did for my 200th find with TheBolasHeathens. I see some guys are mountain biking it, but 21miles is just a bit too much lol. Quote
+WRASTRO Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 But the 21 miles are pretty much all down hill, and most of it is even naturally lit. Quote

It's not very far from the end of the tunnel and then you can turn around and go back through again. I've done it that way several times, both on foot and on bike. Quote
+Allanon Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Thanks to PNWadmin, the Fraggle69 is Visiting, Let's have a Meet & Greet event is published. I hope some of the locals can be there... That morning I'll also be loaning my bike to him for a ride to the APE cache in case anyone else wants to accompany him... Quote
fraggle69 Posted September 24, 2007 Author Posted September 24, 2007 Thanks Al, I've noted on the event cache I WILL BE THERE!!!! Sure if anyone wants to ride up on that Sunday morning, for the APE it would be really great. Thanks again Al. All I need to do now is make sure I remember to pack my GPSr, and hope that my flight is not delayed Quote
+WRASTRO Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 It seems like this can still tie in with the group hoping to ride the entire 21 miles on the 7th. I am only a hopefull participant in the ride, but I will try to make the event later in the day. Quote
+Pyewacket Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 South Bucks to Starbucks and back again! I look forward to meeting you, Fraggle. You're not far from where I spent several of my formative years, RAF Chicksands. Sadly, I haven't been back for a visit since '92. *wonders what she can trade for some decent tea and bickies* Quote
