fujitsu Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Hi there! Does anyone already test the trackback "function" with a walk track, with the option "follow track"? Well, I just did. A very little walk and I am not pleased with it. The compass did not point to the right side and was always moving around. However, if I look for the map I was on track. Well, I am not very pleased with this new H model compare wit my other gps, an etrex legend C. It's true that it has more sensitivity but it also take some time to fix when I change place. I confesse that I expect much more of it. However I expect some improvement with some firmware/sw upgrade. I am affraid that this new H model is not so good for hiking than the old C or Cx. Please Garmin, make me wrong. Do something to improve it's behavior. Please tell us your experience with your new GPSr when hiking/walk. Regards AA Quote
+Red90 Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Perhaps you have a setting different. Are you set to "course" or "bearing" pointer? Quote
gallet Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 This is why I would never recommend anyone save $20 and buy the Legend instead of the VistaHCx. As there is no compass on the Legend if you are not walking fast enough the gps compass cannot plot a fix. You should just use the map page and not bother with the pointer. Quote
fujitsu Posted September 14, 2007 Author Posted September 14, 2007 Hi, bearing pointer. What do you recommend? Quote
+Red90 Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Hi, bearing pointer. What do you recommend? Bearing pointer is the correct choice. I have no idea why your unit is acting strange. I have a 60Cx and it works fine. As to the other response, a compass is not needed with this new units, IME. Quote
