Mag Magician
I know I have seen a thread relating to this, but for the life of me I can't remember where. Blame it on CRS syndrome. I have a cache that is 4 hours drive from my location, and I never go that way anymore. I would like to offer it for adoption and the only cacher in the area seems to be slightly inactive at this time. Is there a spot to advertise or announce the pending demise of my hide? Thanks. You may want to try in the Geocaching by Region/State sections of the forum. Errr ... I see you are in Canada, there is a section for that to just a little further down. Keystone
Moving thread from the Geocaching.com website forum to the Canada forum. Quote Link to comment
+PDOP's
Are there any people watching the listing? If so posting a note log for the cache may be an option. Quote Link to comment
+Peter and Gloria
Is anyone watching the cache? You could try adding "(up for adoption)" to the cache name as well as posting a note. Quote Link to comment
+wesleykey
A lot of folks will see it if you disable the cache, then re-enable with a note that the cache is up for adoption. Quote Link to comment
+Belfrypotters
You could also check out some of the cachers who have recently logged the cache, especially if they said how much they enjoyed it, and if they are local then send them a direct request to adopt your cache. Along the lines of "glad you enjoyed the cache so much, would you be willing to adopt it?" Quote Link to comment
+Canadavey
What's the cache? PM me if you don't want it publicly announced... Quote Link to comment
Mag Magician
I finally archived the cache. Since it wasn't logged with a find or DNF since October of last year, 2 persons logged DNFs. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...3e-51d4d603ca6b Quote Link to comment
+fingers crossed
The other avenue to try is to see if there are caching groups in the area such as OGA or COG. Those folks may be willing to pick up caches from others. May be worth remembering for the future. Quote Link to comment
